          Four years ago, I joined this platform with the aim of writing and reading fanfiction for my favourite bands. That decision springboarded my entire love of writing, and led me to read so many great works and interact with so many wonderful people. I've come so far in both my writing and my life, and I'm so glad to have been on this journey.
          
          But recently I feel Wattpad has started to decline. Lots of what is promoted feels very cut-and-paste, and I feel it's very difficult to gain much reach unless you're consistently writing and posting new chapters and in the fanfiction or romance genres. And I take full responsibility for my part in how that comes across in my page - lots of my works go through re-writes and updates have been sporadic at best.
          
          With that in mind, as well as the fact I have seen my works on here being stolen and posted elsewhere, and that my goal has always been to one day publish physically, I have realised that Wattpad is simply no longer the right platform for me anymore. This is far from the end of my work - I am very far with TTOI and want to publish The Alastair Files and perhaps some of my poetry as well. But whatever form that takes, it will no longer be on here.
          
          In about two weeks, to give time for everyone to see this, my page will be shut down. If you want to still follow me on my journey, you can do so over on Instagram @/ethan.ember. If not, thank you for being here, and I wish you the best with whatever path you are on.
          
          I want to give the biggest thank you to everyone who has ever read, voted, or commented on my stories and poems. Without your support, I wouldn't be in the place I am now, about to publish my first novel, writing being my major passion.

So I am fashionably late as always but we hit two important milestones in September/October! Firstly, it has been FOUR YEARS since I joined Wattpad, which means The Threshold Of Insanity is four years old ^-^ and almost like a birthday present, it also hit 100k words!!
          
          I'm about 57% of the way through going off both the word count and chapters, and it's looking like it's going to end up at 180,000 words. I can't wait to share it with y'all because it truly is like my child :D

I know things have been real quiet on here as of late but rest assured things are still going strong over here on the other side! So I'm just jumping on here to give y'all a quick update in case anyone's wondering where I've got to.
          
          The Threshold Of Insanity is finally fully plotted out and I am officially a third of the way through! Feels like it's taken forever but we are getting there.  My plan at the moment is to publish it on here once it's finished and then hopefully go physical once I'm in a position to do so :)
          
          Also, if you're one of my poetry readers, I am going to be posting new poems over on my Instagram account! (Nothing is happening to the existing ones on here, but I'm reluctant to post more over on this side of the web since I swear this is a novel account)

Hey everyone, just coming on here to let you guys know that I’m safe and I’m doing okay. I know the poem in my last post was a bit dark, and lots of my poems on here are, but i promise you everything is okay. My poems are the way they are because writing my thoughts and feelings out in that way gets them out of my head and allows me to deal with them. So while I do tend to post them pretty close to when I write them, if I’m posting them up then it means I have worked through those feelings and am sharing it in case it resonates with anyone else, so that anyone going through that can know they’re not alone. 
          
          As always, if you ever need to talk about something that features in either my books or my poems, my DMs are always open <3
          
           

HEART GUARD // A POEM
          
          (TW: implied su*cidal ideation)
          
          Music is the home I’ll never have,
          A place where someone understands.
          It extends a hand to pull me from the dark,
          Stitches my wounds and heals my heart.
          
          I lose myself and in these lyrics I’m found,
          I’m scared but always safe in the sound.
          It’s the best thing to make me feel,
          When life doesn’t seem so real.
          
          These songs are a saviour,
          Something unchangeable to grasp onto.
          Someone to rescue me from the tide,
          Something that’s always by my side.
          
          I find my comfort in these chords,
          Because the love I get will never be yours.
          And the only reason I’m still alive,
          Is because this music is my lifeline.

The Alastair Files update that's just gone up is not an actual update, I just was reading the manuscript and noticed a spelling mistake T-T

Another double update to The Alastair Files today because yet again I forgot to post on Friday - nevertheless, if you've read the previous version or are new here and interested in horror/supernatural, consider checking it out! Everything up to Chapter 6 so far is new :)
