white ppl can totally be polynesian but it gets to a point where you clearly don't want to portray nonwhite polynesians; it's in the same vein of only ever portraying white romani people... very odd!

not to say that white people can’t be polynesian because there are ethnically white people that are māori, but lord forbid you guys pick someone with ACTUAL connections to the sea
