@sleepyboi- " Me ? " Ethan looked over both shoulder to see if there was somebody standing behind him , but found no one. His dark brows pulled together in a frown as he gave the good - looking man a once over. " I've been better. " he replied. " And uh , you ? "

Modern streets, slicked with a continuous downpour lined Corvo’s path. Muffled steps of boots scuffing across the concrete left him paranoid, as if the subtle and undetectable noise was far too much. Like the cracking of thunder in a still night, interrupting the deafening quietude.
Halting dead in his tracks, he stared at a common sight in a society like this; a child’s park. While it was ordinary for some, he could not say he had ever seen anything akin to it before, it was strange. Yet stranger still was the man standing stark still in the center of it all, the rain drenching his clothes to the skin, yet he seemed unperturbed by it all. For a moment, Corvo feared the worst: had he been seen?

There was a distinct difference between /the/ killer, and /a/ killer, and Corvo just so happened to be the latter. He had traveled through hell and high water, and looked the sight, haggard up close, red rimmed eyes, trembling hands, telltale of his recent endeavors. For a moment, he could have fooled himself into believing he was alone, but that was folly as he heard rushed footsteps chasing behind him. When he stopped, so would they. It made him anxious, places him directly on the edge, and when faced with a man carrying a blade concealed underneath thinly layered clothing, that was not a position anyone sane would want to place him in. Turning a corner, he stood beneath a street lamp to place him in clear visibility, and to give him a chance to scour the area.
The night was beginning to chill him to the bone, it was frigid, the water drenching his outdated clothes and sticking to his flesh was not helping matters. The mark ingrained into his hand did not disappear during his journey, he could praise any one of the gods for that. He had a crutch, it was the Outsider’s gifts, beckoning him and urging him to evaporate into thin air. But why should he do such a thing knowing he was being tailed? That was simply the coward’s way out, and he would rather face his issues directly.

@-Corvo- When the figure seemed to drift off , he squinted his eyes to make out what he looked like. From this distance away , he couldn't make out a face , only a build and apparant bare arms. Truly , who wore no warm clothing in such pitter patter of rain ? The male pulled the collar of his soaked leather jacket to a close before jogging underneath a tree. Briefly , he pulled out his phone to check the time , the dim light of the screen briefly saturating over his face. Crap , it was late. Once he'd buried it in a pocket again , he looked over to where the man had stood. What if this was the killer ? Then he had to follow him. With the needed mental encouragement , he bolted over the street and its scattered puddles. Stealth wasn't really his forte , but he'd try. As he hid behind a large green container , he stared at the back of the man , who now seemed to be much closer. Adrenaline pumped rhythmically with his pulse , anxiety battled grit. This all was insane.

Fortunately, Corvo was not donning the mask bearing a skull during this time, otherwise, he would have given the wrong idea. The assassin’s gaze was fixed yet fleeting, his feet finding their sensation once more, as he began to back away ever so slowly. The very air spelled trouble, the look of shock on this stranger’s expression. It was enough to convince him to steer clear of this place; it was practically screaming at him from every direction.
The pattering of rain only worsened, pelting across his face, bare arms with ripped sleeves, hail occasionally mingling in the fray. He had to find shelter, there was no doubt in his mind of that. But where to go? He was a stranger in a strange land, with no concept of the place, and he made it apparent he took no interest in Ethan, not anymore. Turning to walk back into the darkness, he halted, rigid. Something felt wrong, immensely so, the atmosphere thick with that very intuition.
