Been a while since I've said anything here. A lot has changed. I left Tumblr permanently. I opened a personal website/blog. I finished the Just Legends series after writing it for seven and a half years. I am in the middle of heavily revising all four fics in Thicker Than Water Tales. I'm keeping the old versions of Thicker Than Water up here and on ff.net, but over on AO3 I'm replacing old content with new content. I'm tightening up plot holes and reworking scenes wholesale with all the experience I've gained writing the Just Legends saga. It's an exciting process for me, and it's helping me knock down my fears about editing a manuscript.

I will still work on Explain It Like I'm Tree, and I will try to update Maneem (Rewrite). I tends to be good for me to have 2-3 open writing projects for when I inevitably burn out on one story or another. However, I'm learning the value of focusing mostly on one project. It's the first time in my life I'm wrestling creative focus in the direction I want it to go, instead of following it wherever it flows. I'm very excited by the results, evidence of which can be seen over on AO3. As I write, Best Served Cold is finished with an extra 15k words to the story, and I've begun work on Worse Than Death. My goal is to get the whole series revised and then looked over by an editor for a final draft by the end of 2023. I take the project this seriously in the hopes that I can achieve lower-level goals on my way to demolishing fears I have about writing and publishing original stories. Wish me luck. Here we go.

This may sound sudden, but I'm enjoying reading a lot more than writing right now. Part of this is fear that I can’t properly tie up my stories, but there's more. I've been reading Mistborn and The Wandering Inn and I’d forgotten how satisfying it is to just sit and read for hours. To lose yourself in another world.

I used to read a lot more than I wrote. Then I left medication behind and I barely read anything because I had so much to write. Right now the writer in me is tired. The writer in me wants to curl up with a book or a fic and just read and read…

I’m afraid I’ll lose readers if I take a very long break, and I probably will. But if I rush the end of the Just Legends series, I will regret it. I will feel terrible. I will hate what I did, and I almost never go back for rewrites.

I thought Laughter Lines would pick up speed now that I ended Hey Spacejerk. But it seems my writing all around may come much slower. To those of you reading the stories I have open, I am very sorry. I will do my best to finish them, it just may not be for awhile. I take heart from Possessed and Elyon, two fics of mine from the past that underwent nearly two-year hiatuses, and emerged as well loved stories by the time I finally concluded.

And maybe it’s time I sowed back into the community some more. When was the last time I went looking for good Mystery Skulls fanfiction? When was the last time I commended an Invader Zim fanfic writer that I didn’t already know? Maybe it’s time to sit down and do some more reading.

My apologies for any disappointment. My thanks for any understanding. And any chapters that may come after this are not a sign of full return, only that I have released myself to produce what I want to on an as-needed basis, not pushing myself in the direction I’ve been trying to unsuccessfully for months now.

Taking rec’s for good Invader Zim and Mystery Skulls fanfiction. I’d love to hear from you what you’ve found to be good, recently or in times past. Thank you.

Hi guys! Still pegging along with the fics, but I'm wondering about taking things to another level and what you think. To date, I've never written "buffer chapters." I've never built up chapters and released them at regular intervals because you basically get them the second I am finished with them (instant gratification ftw). However, I'm starting to wonder if it might be better to switch to a buffer system. Pros: It would develop some self control in me, it would give you the reader the expectation of a regular and timely update, it would allow me to see if a character's choice causes me undue difficulty and give me a shot at revising it before putting it out in front of the world where I stubbornly decide "Welp, now I have to work with it!" Cons: You have to wait longer so I build up said buffer. Maybe even so I write the whole fic. Also there would be less of me leaping off after a character running wild and trying to make it work.

I'm curious. What do you think? And if you like the buffer idea, do you think 5 chapters? 10 chapters? The whole fic? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

Hi guys! I'm not sure if any of you are being tagged but I'm getting a flood of spam comments tagging people and promising premium wattpad membership. If you've been tagged or if you see these before Wattpad deletes them, DO NOT CLICK. I clicked to check, since I have a Mac and am more immune to viruses, and it was definitely a scammy virus page that it leads to, trying to mine your information. DO NOT CLICK THE LINKS. Stay safe, guys.

Could you go to my profile and read my first mystery skulls ask/dare book please?

@Magic290girl Hello Magic290girl. I saw your comment and wanted to respond. I'm sorry, but I don't take requests to read fic, or fic suggestions unless I go looking for them, or unless someone's been my friend for a while and I'm trying to help them out with beta-reading.

I also don't do something like a dare/ask fic. I used to be a heavy duty text based roleplayer and it was a highly addictive thing for me. This falls too close to the line.

I wish you the best with your story.

Alright my little ponies, this is it... tomorrow I get on a plane and start wedding madness preparation. High chance of no updates until late November. It is POSSIBLE there will be story updates, just, not guaranteed or likely because I don't have a lot of time blocks to sit down and wrestle with words until they're aesthetically pleasing and push the plot forward.

Hope you all have a fun Halloween and I'll see you on the other side (or in between if I slip in stolen moments of writing)

In reply to your reply on I Know What You Smell Like: Well if that's the case I'm going to get back into reading these books now that I'm actually stable and I'm going to be your sole supporter on Wattpad if I have to!!
(Comment wouldn't post for some annoying reason)

@Tatttletale That is very sweet of you. I'd just cautiously warn you to be careful because I do get pretty dark (but if you got this far you probably know that) and that I only ask you don't sacrifice your mental health if you need to back down from doing that it's ok, ok? (tone is of concern for you, not bossing)

Hello friends! News! I have just launched a Patreon. If you are interested in supporting my crazy writing habit, check me out at https://www.patreon.com/hecallsmehischild . Fanfiction will still come to you completely free, but there are other perks attached to the Patreon! I will be mentioning the Patreon at the bottom of my chapters from here on out, but it is never an obligation - only a reminder.

I've been reading Invader Zim fics on ff.net since 2009 so this is like a tribute to someone I admire :') you can use this (repost, anything) as you wish!
