I finished the third draft for the last chapter of "My King of Flowers." I'll draft a chapter and then make multiple revisions until I am happy with it. After that, final edits are run through multiple editing programs, screen readers, and perhaps a friend. It takes a while because I am always researching and double checking the programs.
          
          I try not to blindly follow a program because the more I use them, the more my voice is drowned out, and my intentions are misconstrued or assumed. Recently, I've noticed that editing software will replace accurately spelled words and expressions, changing the overall meaning and disrupting my passages' flow, rhythm, rhyme, or verse. I will make corrections and decisions just to discover when I've copied the text; the program corrections have overridden my own. This not only frustrates me, but I feel as if I have lost my agency.
          
          So, please be kind when you happen to see something different than what you're used to. I have to be true to my voice and enjoy playing with language to make it impactful, even if clarity turns ambiguous. I do not desire to lose this agency and change my voice.
