I had written a long review on the book but it didn't get posted. Maybe that's for the best.
I'll try to resume it, The book changed after pilot(first episode) actually it changed when the author decided that they wanted to watch episodes again. One thing is using them as a base line for inspiration another is doing it the same and just giving a twist.
Salem has changed the plot before cannon to an incredible level, she killed lots of villains and saved lots of people. But when pilot starts it's like the goal is to make readers rewatch TVD with a twist, that twist being Salem in it and the Scooby gang being her crew and and let's not forget Kol because Salem surely won't, he's on her mind daily, constantly.
Salem has two things going on right now and those are "Follow plot" and "I want Kol". I get the second but the first should have changed and not have some convenient way of making it happen like getting a readhead because Caroline is off limits, or calling Salem and Caroline to the dinner with Stefan just because they wanted Salem in the scene. The list goes on.
Then we have Kol, honestly I shipped them but it went from friendzone to lovers situation to basically an obsession with him, it's a daily though, Kol is MIA so let's go clubbing to get him jealous, or because I wanna bang.♀️
And there's also her teacher "etiquette" if she has it actually. She's young yes but why does the teacher need to wear see through clothes? Why does a Teacher have to participate on the car washing thing and use a bikini. And worse of all is the hypocrisy of commenting on underage drinking when she also did it when she was younger and let's it happen now that she's a teacher.
Anyway I'm out, hope this book keeps going well. I don't hate the book I just don't like how it turned out. It's my opinion and personal taste, it might be perfect for someone else. So to those I hope you have fun reading.
