                 Hunk narrowed his eyes beneath the mask, his voice calm but edged with warning. “Fair enough,” he replied coolly. “But I’m not here to play games or step on toes—I just need to pass through, nothing more.” He kept his weapon lowered but ready, posture unshifting. “Unless you give me a reason not to, I’ve got no interest in picking a fight. Just stay out of my way.”

            「 i could ask you the same thing , as far as i'm concerned there aren't any gas leaks . 」the ghoul chided , his voice was stoic but his tone was mocking . it was apparent that he wasn't going to share , right now kaneki was more concerned with defending his territory .

            even with his mask on his only visible eye could show his irritation plainly . he was embarrassed that wesker even thought he needed protecting in such a way 「 i’m completely rational . have you considered you’re the one who’s being irrational ? 」
            he made the effort to move past the other man stubbornly , yet another clear sign that he was more upset than he was letting on . 

 kaneki.ᐟ im  not  underestimating  you  god  dammit.  ⁽  he  let  out  in  a  frustrated  growl. ⁾  would  you  at  least  listen  before  you  go  storming  off.ᐣ  be  rational.

            「 you underestimate me . . . 」was all the ghoul said in response , his kagune had already stretched out , digging into the wall so he could swing past wesker .

            「 proper english ? who knew a murderer would be so closed minded ? 」he replied sarcastically , he didn’t seem all that phased by his insult . it was odd but kaneki felt almost . . . safe here . not just because of the available places to hide away , there was a comforting sense of familiarity in their banter no matter how brief . kaneki never went out of his way to provoke wesker , it was like the other man said , he would simply linger and climb about , sleep wasn’t necessary and yet he would do it wherever he saw fit . 

no, you  haven't  given  me  a  reason  to,  you  merely  linger.  there's  no  harm  in  that.  aside  from  the  occasional  getting  on  my  nerves. ⁽  was  this  true.ᐣ  with  wesker  it  was  hard  to  tell  as  the  way  he  conducted  himself  appeared  calm,  he  never  truly  got  worked  up.  even  if  he  was  in  a  fight  he  still  was  slow  to  anger.  ⁾  if  your  definition  of  lecturing  means  speaking  in  proper  english,  then  yes.

            「 you don’t chase me out of your realm , that alone means that you must want me here enough . 」he noted almost partially to himself . he merely stood in front of the other man , observing but keeping some space between them . although he didn’t have his kagune out kaneki was still prepared to flee if he needed to . 
            「  i don’t see why you’re complaining , most of the time you talk it sounds like a lecture . 」

            the ghoul blinked slowly , seriously ? this guy ? not to mention he was certain that even though he was just trying to survive collecting dead bodies to consume later would put him on the top of this man’s shit list .
            「 then why are you here ? to attack me ? wouldn’t it be better to just go to bed ? 」

*  nolan  blinked  slow,  wobbled  where  he  stood,  and  let  out  a  lazy  chuckle.  *  lucky’s...  a  stretch,  *  he  mumbled,  squinting  like  the  world  was  too  loud.  then  pointed  lazily  at  kaneki.  *  i’m  still…  keepin’  this  place  safe.

            「 . . . i’ve never seen an intoxicated ‘ hero ‘ before . must be my lucky day . 」kaneki knew better than to pick some sort of fight . as far as he was concerned people who flew and had super strength were not meant to be fucked with no matter how inebriated they were .

            「  it’s not murder . . it’s hunting . 」kaneki has been going through a cycle of starvation , every time he ate he was never full . he was smart enough to know that he wasn’t going to risk a rebellion against an entity he knew nothing about . 
            「 don’t thank me . when you see me again i’ll need to eat , i’m a monster . 」his response was blunt but it was the truth . he’d lose control of himself , he would gut the man with no mercy and feast on his innards just like he’d done to many others . the way he viewed it he was simply respecting the natural order of things , it was kill or be killed .

                 “Pretty much,” he muttered with a bitter edge, the thought of being dragged away from the ruined city he knew into this hellhole of trials and sacrifice making his skin crawl. As twisted as it was, he almost missed the familiarity of the undead roaming the streets. This place? It was terrible in every way. But if Kaneki truly meant no harm, Leon figured he’d give him the benefit of the doubt—for now. He slid his weapon back into its holster with a sigh. “Guess not all of you murder-happy types are the worst. Thanks, I guess.”

            「 isn’t that exactly what this place is ? hell ? 」kaneki asked simply , there was little point in sugar coating it , ever since coming here it was like he’d get completely lost to his hunger and feel the agony of his torture . being able to see someone for what they were : a person , was a rare moment of clarity from the ghoul . 
            「  i won’t hurt you . this isn’t a trial . 」he concluded , almost to himself as his kagune fully retracted , sliding back into his body slowly .

            ⁽  a  hand  lingered  over  the  holster  fastened  on  his  hip  as  the  other  moved  in  closer. ⁾  you  haven't  given  me  much  of  a  reason  to  be.

            the half - ghoul continued to stare but he took a step closer , the mask he wore hiding any emotion he may have had at being caught . it wasn’t like he could help it , kaneki needed to eat something to survive . 「 are you scared ? 」
