I learned how to write at Emerson, Boston. Dick Dupre and John Coffee taught me prose. Mom and Dad taught me poetry. Franz Wright and Bill Knott taught me how to clean it up.

My favorite novelists are the surrealists, Umberto Eco, Isabel Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, et. al. I write books that I could imagine reading. That means big novels replete with synesthesia and rich, multidimensional characters. I delight in weaving emotive complexity into the interstices between their connections. My narrative style is a hybridization of third person omniscient, in which blocked scenes delineate the subjective perspective. In other words, the narrator is not a homunculus expostulating from above the sensorium; rather , the characters themselves take turns with revealing the patterns on their screens.(1)

A word or four about fan fiction, which I am posting here: Crass, trite, opportunistic, parasitical. Apologies to the originator of my characters. I am doing it because in this day and age the only way to build an audience is through guilt by association. The novel is dead. These days I only buy poetry. My most recent fiction book purchase is Nox, by the erudite and depthlessly melancholy Anne Carson, acquired at Grolier Book Shop, Harvard Square.

The epic surrealist style is out of fashion. You'll either love or hate my prose. There is no middle ground.

One must have patience.
Fashion will come again.
Be still.
Wait.(2)
