I have wanted to write a Star Trek novel since I was old enough to read one -- which, for the record, would have been in about 1980. (It was probably either "Spock Must Die!" by James Blish, or "The Galactic Whirlpool" by David Gerrold. Those were the days.) I think I wrote my first fanfic story when I was about 12. It was godawful, and I vowed to never do it again.

And I didn't...until about five minutes after the closing credits of "Caretaker," the pilot episode of Star Trek Voyager. Something about those characters spoke to me. I wrote fanfic on and off for the next few years, until my daughter was born and my free time became very limited.

She's a teenager now, and really only needs Mom and Dad for meals, movie money and rides to the mall. About a year ago I found myself with a lot of time on my hands again, and no good way to fill it. Out of the blue, my daughter asked if there had ever been a female starship Captain on Star Trek. We watched "Yesterday's Enterprise" and a few other choice episodes...and then "Caretaker." And just like that, I had the bug again, and the time to indulge it.

My early fanfic has been available on the web for years, so I think I'll reserve this for newer stuff. Enjoy. And drop me a line now and then. I love hearing from fellow fans.
