I'm a retired Cold War Warrior. During the Cold War, I was a Chemical Engineer in a plutonium recycling facility near Denver, Colorado. I've held plutonium in my hands and not many people can say that. Today that plant is gone - demolished - and the site's a wildlife refuge.

After the Cold War fizzled out, I switched to environmental engineering and worked at the copper mines around Silver City, New Mexico, USA, including one that's been a copper source since before Europeans entered the New World.

I still live in Silver, at the edge of the Gila National Forest, with my husband, dog, cats, and a few elderly llamas. I'm a volunteer firefighter for wildland and house fires. That puts me well on my way to my life goal: to become an eccentric old woman.
