@Beniebungelbeentje I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! Yeah sometimes Cali does have an irritating way of thinking but she is 18 and as we can see kind of spirals in her own head sometimes. Over time she will grow. She is still going to be irritating on occasion but hey she is (fictional) human!
The accents can be tricky. I'm playing around with them. On the one hand they are nice because they make is easy to see who is speaking in the group scenes but they aren't standard English. If you ever read Scottish twitter or posts on the best of Scottish twitter Braxton is actually using a lot of the same spellings they use. It is all technically English but the language has spread so far and has so many different spins that even native speakers are like hold up what now. People are a little split on it. I write it without the accent and then go and add the accent in so I might tinker around with the levels a little, but then again Cali is a little lost listening to Braxton and Hoyt so as a reader you are kind of along for the ride with her, especially when Braxton is drunk!

I did enjoy writing Outcast and I'm enjoying where the characters are going. I 100% did this for fun, I have a different career I have no intention of leaving, so it's nice that people are enjoying it. Ok 99% for fun 1% because it was driving me crazy that so many RH books skipped the character development. I know it makes the story move slower but when there are so many people that happens. I'd rather be invested in the characters than just get to the point.
