Today, November 11, 2022, marked the 104-year anniversary of the end of WW1, on Armistice Day. As a Canadian, we proudly stand to remember the brave souls who both risked and gave their lives for peace and freedom.
In WW1, close to 61000 Canadian soldiers would die in battle, with 172000 additional soldiers returning injured.
In WW2, nearly 45000 soldiers died, with 55000 additional soldiers injured.
In Korea, 516 soldiers would die in the conflicts, and more than 1200 were wounded.
In Afghanistan, 165 Canadians would die, 158 being soldiers and 7 civilians, with over 2100 known injuries to soldiers (records were only released until 2010, when the government stopped releasing the numbers).
Lest We Forget. Thank you for your service.
