Oh HEŁL NO tell me why one of MY friends was at a house party with CHRIS RODRIGUEZ (the actor not the actual character) and not only was I not in the city I WASN’T EVEN INVITED and I had to learn about the existence of this party from a PHOTO DUMP on her INSTAGRAM SPAM ACCOUNT.

To everyone screaming “I hate Athena” after the latest Percy Jackson episode, just remember:
          
          Today it’s just Athena, a Greek myth. Tomorrow it’s ALL women who display leadership, logic, strength, and traditionally masculine qualities. 
          
          The ancient Greeks didn’t purposely write their own deities into evil monsters from the start: every “villainous” trait that has been attached to them(especially the women), was attached for a very specific agenda.
          
          Over time, Hera became the “jealous, nagging wife.”
          Aphrodite became the “home-wrecking cheater.” 
          Demeter became the “overbearing mother.”
          Persephone the “rebellious daughter.”
          Artemis the “man hater.”
          And of course, Athena, the worst of them all: an intelligent woman who demands respect.
          
          I loved the episode and am very impressed with how they’re highlighting the plights of dysfunctional families, but let’s refrain from contributing to associating Rick Riordan’s retellings of these myths to what they actually are.

For all the Ovid apologists out there, can you all just take one goddàmn second to ask yourself, if he cared about women EVEN A LITTLE BIT why would he rewrite Athena, one of the most prominent female deities in mythology, into his evil big bad villain in every single one of his stories?
          
          Is it because he’s hoping our deep-rooted misogyny will see all women (even literal goddesses) as spiteful emotional jealous beings? Was is so that he could frame ALL women, who like Athena, are in tune with their logic, strength, and power, as evil and bad? Was it possible he literally just hated the greeks and hated “strong” women in their mythology even more?
          
          I want you to just pause and think about what kind of sadist reads a story about three sisters, who despite being born monsters, love each other very much, and thinks to himself “Hmm, you know what this story needs? Assault and violence on women!!”
          
          It’s weird and it’s not normal, please stop reading and regurgitating work written by openly sèxist men.

So the guy who plays Chris on the Percy Jackson show is mutuals on instagram with not one, not two, but THREE of my friends and I actually feel so left out I literally want to cry.

Controversial take because everyone and their mother is in love with this book, but as a hypermobile girly who’s only slightly taller but weights less than Violet Sorrengail, Fourth Wing was absolutely NOT relatable nor empowering in the LEAST. “Struggles to climb onto a dragon but perfectly capable of getting railed by some buff 6’5 guy and enjoying it,” give me a BREAK, I have been brutally injured fûcking around with normal-sized men before.
          
          Also, no one else is going to say it so I will! The parapet was stupid and if you don’t even have the internal balance and control to walk across what’s essentially an ultra long  balance beam, maybe you shouldn’t be enlisting in a dragon rider’s school! Rip to Dylan and condolences to his fiancé and all, but my guy, I’ve seen ten year old gymnasts do backflips on those high beams, this is so entirely ur own fault.

          see personally I checked tf out, like, three years ago when miss poppy became the queen of the universe with two pet dragon-gods and had a threesome with her husband and said husband's best friend then discovered she's actually secretly a literal goddess who was fated to save the world, BUT THERE'S MORE???
