I kind of feel embarrassed to post anything on my here after literally disappearing (again). Life’s been very hectic, busy and there’ve been a lot of changes. Some of you DO realize the author reads your comments right? I really didn’t sign up for the “I’ll off myself if...” or “I’m going to kill *character*,” or people telling me how my story is wrong? Like excuse me?
Usually I don’t let this get to me at all, but in the past months comments like these have made up the majority of my notifications. It’s the overwhelming amount of negativity that just makes me not want to open wattpad anymore, let alone post my stories.
I do realize that the people who post comments like this probably don’t follow me, meaning they won’t see this, but it’s so tiring. I don’t want to wake up to 300 notifications if half of them are going to contain negativity.
Sorry for the rant, I just felt like I needed to post this somewhere on my profile. I do genuinely appreciate and love the support I’ve been getting, thank you so much for following me.

@kenme0w I totally understand what you’re saying, it’s incredibly upsetting. Even if the hate isn’t directed to the author or work directly, it still a lot of negativity to get through.

Hi! I don’t think I can give you any tips aside from understanding the wattpad algorithm. I guess I just got lucky? Luck plays a big factor.
Make sure to use as many tags as possible that relate to your story, the higher your ranking for these tags, the more wattpad will boost your story.
Wattpad also prefers books that are still being written, they favour books that are being updated every 2 to 3 days. This will help you go up in said ranking.
Another thing that obviously help are votes and comments. Maybe try asking questions at the start of your chapter so people will engage? (Start is smarter than end. People might skip to the next chapter when they see an author’s note and your readers not scrolling down to the end and skipping over text is harmful for your ranking.)
Then again, my book is something I uploaded back in 2017 and actively worked on in the past 8(?) months, it rarely happens that you wake up to 10k more reads. Hope this helped!
