Why am I crying about Mikey's death! hes been dead for a year! We weren't that good friends, but we talked on occasion. I didnt even know he was gone for months! I only talked to him once a week maybe! Why is anxiety, guilt and bereavement hitting me like a freight train?

not down for making characters who can be incredibly well written as great characters with flaws and many layers and flattening them down into drug addicts or total jerks when you could use their struggles as a way of incorporating difficult pasts and overcoming obstacles as a part of your plot. I’d rather read a story where a character acts like an ass but still in canon with what they’re like and using obstacles they face to change the readers perspective than a fib that treats rough around the edges kids with broken homes and hard lives like bratty bullies.

(am I vagueing about Bert McCracken and Gabe Saporta? most definitely yes)
