Ingrid used to live with her parents into the Atrixian castle (Atrix is one of the kingdoms that make up the world of Ephedia, was most famous place for the export of precious metals and crystals, besides being the place of origin where the oracle gems were created at the request of the queen of Ephedia)
One day, Gramorr attacked the realm searching the power with what the oracle gems were created, but in an attempt to protect the kingdom, her family and the power to not be taken, the queen, Merida, transferred most of the power of the crystal of the oracle in her older daughter's earring. But the last of the power arrived to Gramorr, destroying the kingdom, taking prisoners the rest of the family.
Ingrid's dad faced Gramorr, but he was not strong enough. He died because of Gramorr. Ingrid, her mother and her sisters escaped with Morgaine's help.
Gramorr though that she, her mother and sisters were dead, killed by his stupid giant 'cat', Banes.
Ingrid can listen/detect when someone needs help (like Iris with her necklace or her aunt Morgaine) that because most of the power of the oracle crystal is in her earring.
The members of the royal family of Atrix have a big connection with the big magic oracle crystal, that makes them so powerful and a obstacle for Gramorr's plans, as Ingrid is.
