The Sorting Hat is wrong about the houses. 

Slytherin traits are being ambitious, driven, determined, realistic, adaptable, self-reliant, bold/assertive, and analytical. You don't have to have all these traits to be a Slytherin. And they are not all evil or prejudiced.

Gryffindor traits are being brave, courageous, honest, practical, blunt, passionate, stubborn/hardheaded, and living in the moment. You don't have to have all these traits to be a Gryffindor. And they are not all irresponsible or dumb.

Hufflepuff traits are being hard-working, loyal, honest, genuine, open-minded, giving, accepting, practical, patient, passionate, fair and just, and dependable. You don't have to have all these traits to be a Hufflepuff. And they are not 'the rest' or spineless.

Ravenclaw traits are being analytical, intelligent, logical yet impractical, curious, creative, witty, wise, cynical, introspective, independent.  You don't have to have all these traits to be a Ravenclaw. And they are not all stuck-up or unemotional.

Don't judge people based on their house. Or for their skin colour, age, gender, sexuality, romantic orientation, or anything else. Even their personality or their choices. You don't know what they are thinking or going through.
