Heads up, friends!

Harlequin’s "Romance Includes You" Mentorship is back! Again in 2024, they are calling for story submissions from debut romance writers in underrepresented communities for a chance to start your romance writing career and have your debut novel published. Submissions open on May 1, 2024.

(This has nothing to do with Wattpad. I'm just sharing the info for what sounds like a great opportunity.)

@rskovach - It does look like a great opportunity. :)

@seradrake it's definitely not for everyone, but maybe somebody can have some luck with it!

@rskovach - I can't see Harlequin being even remotely interested in my work. Yes, I'm a member of multiple underrepresented communities (autistic, pansexual, genderqueer, Muslim) but what I write is waaaaaaaay to spicy for Harlequin!

I'll share this on my own Wattpad feed, though, because some of my followers might be interested. If Harlequin is anything like it was in the past, the publishing company is a good place for a new writer to get started - back in the day, which was admittedly in the 90's and early 00's, they had a reputation for being a close-knit and nurturing literary community, almost a family. That was before Rupert Murdoch bought them out, of course.

I'm going on a girls' trip/pre-Christmas vacation where technically I'll have 7 days when I can write. I'm aiming for 1K words per day on a new project. Will I get 7K? This is a post for accountability. Let's see!

When the heir to Christmas falls for a girl who hates the holiday, he risks losing his birthright to a trickster cousin unless he (and his magical friends) can melt her bah-humbug heart.

@kriskosach LOL if anyone would know someone to make that happen, it's you :) But that's a great story! And happy holidays to you too, Kris!

@rskovach Hey!!! This looks awesome! Someone call Hollywood. This sucker is ripe for a movie! Also (and this is HILARIOUS!) Three years ago, on Xmas, our family was walking home and there was this sketchy looking, unkempt man with white hair crossing the street. We were joking as a family that he must have gotten fired at the mall. Then I said "No kids- that's Santa's angry brother, Pete!" So... of all the names you gave Nick's brother (Piet) ... well, that makes me laugh out loud! Happy Holidays Rita!
