Austin Forrer, 19, and Macy Group, 16, died on Friday according to police after Forrer lost control of the 2003 Dodge Ram he was driving in Wheatfield Twp around 10:50 p.m. Four other teenagers in the vehicle were injured but are recovering.

In opening remarks to the mourners seated in the church's wooden pews, pastor Lindsey Melnick said she had rarely seen a tragedy shake her community so severely.

"I have lived my entire life here and I've never seen something to this degree," Melnick said. "In a community like this, our hearts beat as one. And when you lose a heartbeat, you feel that hurt. And when you lose two, it's even worse."

Christie Young, a member of the church and volunteer EMS worker, took the stage to tell the crowd that the deaths of the two teenagers were equally difficult for emergency services personnel - many of whom were seated in the pews that evening.

"This is not an easy thing for them ever," Young said. "We are trained for this but we are not prepared or ever truly ready for it. It hurts - It hurts a lot."

Young said she took solace that the situation may have been even worse if it wasn't for the swift response of emergency services.

After an hour of prayer and songs, the church's lights were dimmed and the mourners lit candles in silence.

As the crowd filed out of the building, a young girl, her face red with tears, embraced Melnick.

"I don't get it," the girl said in a choked voice.

"I know," Melnick said softly. "I know."
