With the first draft for Tipping the Scales completed and submitted to the Wattys, I think I'll give myself a couple of days of rest... then it's straight back to the drawing boards ! I have already set out my editing plan and process, for which I will meticulously dissect and reconstruct my novel, with the the hope of turning a story I already love into a story many others can love to. Trust the process. Watch this space.

As a side note to my previous post, I have made the decision to change the title of my novel to "Tipping the Scales". The novel was always going to be the first book in a series and I believe "The Balance of Magic" is a more apt name for said series, hence the need for a title for my first novel!

I'm hoping to up the writing, editing and uploading of chapters for my WIP ("The Balance of Magic") in the next month in line with the Wattys. The submissions have just opened and it was always my target to complete my first draft to enter, as submissions close on 17th August. What I submit will only be a first draft and won't be the final version of my novel however I am hoping to use the opportunity to get much needed feedback from experienced readers and, in the perfect world, maybe gain some traction for my story and attract a few more readers. Either way, it has motivated me to make more progress and work to a stricter schedule. Whatever comes out of it, even if nothing at all, I will have proven to myself that I can work to a time frame and will have a first draft completed sooner than expected - something I never thought I would've ever said when starting The Balance of Magic!

I am excited to say I have given myself the task of completing my first novel "The Balance of Magic" in the next two months! (that is to say, complete the first draft). The chapters I am uploading to Wattpad have been proofread and edited to a certain extent, but I would say they are by no means the finished product. Nonetheless, reaching the end of my first draft is a huge milestone I look forward to reaching, and I can't wait to have all those first draft chapters uploaded to finally have a "complete" story.
