                  [ clint  couldn't  help  but  laugh  at  his  words,  although  it  lacked  any  real  humor.  that  felt  like  a  joke  to  him.  clint?  good?  no  way. ]  no.  no,  i'm  not  good.  far  from  it.  i  thought  that  was  obvious.  i  get  it  though.  i'm  not  pressuring  you  or  anything.  whatever  happens,  happens.  [ clint  knew  he'd  done  plenty  bad  on  his  own.  between  ronin  and  the  lengths  he  would  go  to  even  as  hawkeye,  he  never  saw  himself  as  a  good  guy.  here  he  was  trying  but  he  didn't  let  it  bother  him  when  it  wasn't  exactly  accepted  from  him  right  now. ]  stay  as  long  as  you  need  or  want.  i  mean  it.

he appreciated the support , though it did sting with just how kind the other man was . dex wasn't kind . couldn't stay out of trouble . 
            
            his smile fell at the offer , he couldn't drag his bullshit into clint's life . he'd have to accept a job sooner or later , and with it came all sorts of bad news .

I can list, chronologically, every single one of your embarrassing moments right back to you to prove you so, if you rather. If I start now, I might end up in time to enjoy Christmas."
