A few days ago I got a live example of how much good humanity is capable of, and I've been wanting to share it for a while.
The man who runs the canteen in our college got into a bad car accident last week. Keep in mind this is a medical college, and most of the students he's fed are going to be doctors in the future.
He was admitted to our hospital, and the way the entire staff rallied behind him was incredible to watch. He was given a private room, the best possible doctors and he didn't pay for a single thing. (Possible due to various healthcare schemes, most of the doctors working for free and good old fashioned Indian jugaad.)
He got released 2 days ago and came back to work yesterday. He was so happy he gave every member of the staff (including us students) a free meal in the canteen today.
There wasn't a day when he was admitted that someone wasn't coming up to check on him. Doctors, nurses, other staff, students, receptionists, everyone.
And this incident might have restored my faith in humanity a little.
