            he rose a brow, tapping his shoe while his teammate mustered a word of defense. “uh huh. definitely different.” he rolled his eyes, before looking away, feeling a bit vulnerable now. “they i dunno, pitied me after the whole thing with my parents but made me all uncomfortable by cooing at me and treating me like a kid.” he sighed out before blinking in surprise upon being held. “w-we don’t even look the same, how am i your son??? huh.. i don’t have a crush, he’s my friend!” 

“that’s different! she’s…” he blushed as he looked away, “she’s special and i want to make her mine. AAH-! NO, BAD SHIRO!” he scolded the boy before jumping back a bit pre cautiously, “wait… they did? but you’re no object— you’re very strong and you work very hard.” he stated before embracing the boy tightly, as a way to say he was here, “i’ll have to protect you too, shi.” he stated quietly before tightening his embrace, “i declare what i want! i mean you’re basically like my son of the team anyway. and yes it is~! it’s that hikaru fellow that sky-chan speaks of, right right?”

            “you’re always trying to get yvette’s attention.” he countered, pouting a bit before groaning at his persistence. “i’ll throw you in the pool.” he threatened quietly before sighing. “girls flocked me throughout junior high and it was really discomforting, felt objectified because i looked young and a small.” he mumbled before blinking up at him and then looking away with a blush. “d-don’t go declaring stuff like that so casually.. and it’s not!”

            “well you have to convey that to him because he’s just going to be waiting on your call for when things are okay for you.” the albino haired male explained, shaking his head. “i was not being bad!” he argued, pouting a bit before sighing. “i mean i do, but i just don’t want to come off too strong i guess, or for someone to say something to him because of me.”

“well that’s fair, i suppose. nishinoya-san was a jerk anyway… just don’t want iwa-chan to be a rebound. i want him to be my everything.” she confessed softly before nodding, “he’s a lovestruck fool as well. i flicked you cause you were being bad!” she huffed again before shaking her head as she calmed down, “not at all. you enjoy your time together right? i believe men deserve flowers too. he seems like the type to really love them.”

            “well he’s waiting for you because you said you didn’t want another relationship so he refuses to do anything without consent.” he clarified before humming. “sounds like something he would do. suppose he wanted to be infused with luck as much as possible, or because it was simply something she’d worked on for him.” he answered before sighing. “you literally just flicked me in the forehead..” he trailed off, touching the petals idly. “i guess so, but is it not weird of me?”

            “it’s just a weird subject, i mean i’ve only ever seen my parents in love. oba-san’s partner left her, so it’s just me, her and my cousin.” he explained, rubbing his arm a bit before looking back up at the blond. “okay, just message the details and i’ll try to make it after practice um, here.” he handed him his phone, cheeks coloring with pink. “o-okay, i’ll bring my work with me in that case.”

“no? well, you don’t have to talk about anything with me unless you’d like to. i’ll listen whenever you’re ready to tell or you don’t have to tell me at the end of the day either.” he spoke seriously before laughing a bit out of enjoyment, “i’m glad! i’ll try to be around as much as i can. i have your phone number anyway now. aww you will? i’d love that! thank you so much, shi-chan!!” he stated before hugging him quickly, “yeah, my mom doesn’t mind. i told her i was going to help you out with homework though, so we’ll have to do homework together for a bit. i don’t want her to scold you, ahahah!”

            “no no, it’s just um.. not something i talk about very often.” he answered, straightening out his sleeve. “i appreciate you declaring your presence though, it’s comforting.” he answered before humming. “i’ll consider visiting if i have another swim meet with your school.” he nodded slowly, hikaru’s hand foreign being foreign around his, yet warm. “okay, as long as i’m not intruding. i don’t want to get you into trouble or anything.”

            okay.. now that isn’t suspicious at all, but i suppose i won’t pry. and um, i’m guessing it must me this strange looking dark mud.. anyway, do you need any help with what you were doing? 

business reasons,  well they're called the mines for a reason but i do agree with you . .  it smells terrible.

            huh-? oh! i um.. got permission to come down into the mines to find this ancient city, but it’s just so stuffy here.. ahem, what about you?

            come on, i promise it’ll be super interesting to look at old ruins! there’s so much history and there, tons to discover, maybe even treasure! it’s a change of pace from battle, y’know..
