when fall turns into winter
leaves fall and a constant darkness begins to stretch out it's shadows, and an ever lasting coldness seems to lay over the country like a heavy blanket
it's the kind of blanket that weighs you down and still never warms you
so you try to escape to a hot chocolate and the cackling fire, but when the day ends and everything that stays is the chill on your skin darkness begins to spread into your mind and thoughts
you cannot await spring
the time when everything awakes to new life and the sun dares to stretch out her fingers, carefully stroking your cheek, melting the frost of your lungs that kept you from taking a deep breath
summer takes over and your hair gets lighter and skin darker
you feel forced to smile because oh, how can't you be happy when it is so warm outside?
but everything you feel is the sweat running down your back, like time running out, like the sand between your fingers at the beach
and when you finally opened up, warmed up, melted and embraced the longer days and shorter nights, the trees start to colour and loose it's leaves, building piles to jump and get lost in
And summer makes space for fall
and the cycle begins again.
