she sits on the heated floors of her kitchen with her two friends. they both sit on their phones while she thinks about her life. the heat from the oven that is baking an apple and pear crostata, warms her leg. she tilts her head back, and rests it on the cupboard door that holds pots and pans. she breathes in deep the smells of baking with fresh produce. the only thing missing is her friends, who seem to be here, yet are in a parallel universe, where they talk to each other through these screens.
