            He just hummed and tried to help her sleep. He moved his hand from her head, and he just placed his own hand on his lap

            She hummed softly, letting her eyes close. She slowly drifted back off to sleep. She supposed this was a little odd since they’d only just met, but given that she’d already invited him to move in once she had an apartment, she figured maybe it wasn’t actually that weird.

            “Hm? No, no. You can keep it. I’m used to sleeping on the floor.” She frowned.” And you’ll need your sleep, too. We can take turns keeping watch.”

                 He let out a quiet grunt and gave a small nod, glancing at his mattress before looking back at her. “If you want to take the mattress tonight, go ahead. I don’t sleep much anyway—I’ll keep watch while you get some rest,” he offered, rising to his feet and stepping aside. “It’s better than trying to get any sleep on the cold floor.”

            She shook her head.” I, uh… I guess I just thought it would be a good place to stay for a few months.” She took the last few bites of food in the can. She’d clearly been extremely hungry. Who knows when she’d last had a meal. She sure didn’t remember.” I’m really not special. I wouldn’t think too much about it.”
