I think I’ve come to terms with this ending by now. I can say it was a great game, but nobody liked it because we couldn’t slit abbys throat open. But you know what really bothered me the most?
The fact that Dina and J.J left. Ellie ended up all alone again. That shit HURT. Because we’re sitting there watching them be all lovey dokey and shit and BOOM. Ellie wants to start this shit again and Dina leaves. I understand why she left though.
Anyway, in my opinion, the reason Ellie didn’t kill Abby was because there was no reason to. Like yeah, she killed joel, but Ellie lost everything just to get revenge. It wasn’t worth it. Would joel have finished the job? Fuck yes. But that was kind of a part of Ellie’s character development I guess. She finally stopped letting her revenge consume her and started to let it go. But DAMN. When I saw that house empty as fuck, my heart dropped and I went “yo- she FUCKIN LEFT?”.
Game was a ten out of ten of you think deeply about it. I still don’t wanna pick up my guitar tho. It hurts too much.
@RedWolfMonster that’s exactly what I mean, I loved the game because they made hard choices to not make the ending predictable and give the players what they want. They did a great job I’m with this game
@dev-twd I too, was extremely sad, but expected dina to leave. It hurt, and i agree, i genuinely like the game. I liked abby as a character, lev, yara, jesse, etc. I'm glad ellie didn't kill abby, because the cycle of violence would've probably kept going, and I just like abby, she reminded me of joel in some ways. But it was mostly the way she took care of lev.
@Tahiti-Boater the whole theme of the game was to not let revenge swallow you and to forgive. I mean, they told us from the beginning that the game was based on revenge, so, that shouldn’t be a surprise, and I’m not liking that GameStop whatever you said. Came off as very transphobic. Anyway, games don’t always end the way you want them to. That’s just that. You know it’s a good game because you hate it. It makes you feel deep feelings about it, as it should. They did their job. Critics rated it as perfect, but mostly ppl are just upset because they couldn’t kill Abby and they’re transphobic and they call it “lazy story telling”. But honestly, it’s not. Y’all wanted to kill Abby, y’all didn’t get to, that’s just that. Learn to forgive (which is the entire point of the game.). I hope they make a part 3.
