"Why?" He asked. His voice was just above a whisper.
"Because that is not my home. Your last wife still lingers in there." He looked away. A wave of sadness took over.
"She is gone." He mumbled.
"I know. But that is the home you two built together. The bed you both slept in. Created life in." I looked down. "That place is not mine." I stopped my own sadness from flooding me.
"We could make it yours as well." I shook my head.
"No, I like this home. We all built it together. It has enough room for all of us." I could sense a mix of emotions in him. "My brother has grown rather fond of it as well." I whispered.
"I understand."
I squeezed the towel in my hand. "I know the one thing stopping us.. is our living situation."
"It is one of the things."
"I cannot get over this feeling."
"What feeling?" He asked.
"That I am filling someone else's space. I keep thinking I have to hold myself up to her."
"You should not feel that way."
"Yes, but the way Atreus talks about her as if she was this strong, powerful, perfect woman who made no mistakes. I am far from that and feel pressured as if I need to be her." I explained. He put his hands on my arms. I looked up at him, eyes burning.
"You and her are two very different people. You are strong. You do not have to be her, and I do not want you to be." I looked away."Sometimes when we hear the praise someone gets, we forget that they are people. Do not compare yourself to someone who has no bearings on your actions." He was right.
"Thank you for listening to me. Give me time. I need to figure myself out.”
"You will." I leaned up a bit. He leaned down to kiss me.
