What happened to the youth that day felt deeply inhumane. What were we asking for, really? Accountability. The resignation of someone we believed had failed to do his job. We chose to raise our voices through a peaceful protest, yet violence met us before we ever chose it. And despite everything, so many at Jantar Mantar refused to answer brutality with brutality. That restraint deserves to be remembered. A democracy is not measured by how loudly it celebrates itself, but by how it listens to its people—especially its youth. The day peaceful voices are met with force, democracy loses a part of its soul.
