It's been a while since we've been home , ever since mom and dad divorced we've been living in Wisconsin with Aunt Margret. Today would be the day that we were back where our real home is , Willow Drive , 90892 California . I haven't seen my goofy friend Danny in years. Things will be good because we will be next door neighbors again.
We pull up to our former house , it's been years since we've been here , I haven't seen Danny since I was 6 years old.
Mom exclaims " Autumn it's been a while since we've been here ".
I roll my eyes , " yeah I know , why'd we even come back here ."
Mom sighs , " your family is here sweetie , our life is here it's been 9 years we have a whole new life here ."
I climb out of the car and grab my backpack and head inside , being here is comforting yet scary , this is the home that contains all my childhood memories but this is also the house where dad beat mom. I head up to my room and the walls are bare , no furniture , nothing . I hear a loud familiar voice boom through the house , " AUTUMNNNN ! , " I was really off guard and jumped at the call of my name . I went down the stairs and saw Mrs.Gonzalez she pulled me into a hug and I smiled , " oh your so grown up and your so beautiful it's been a while " I smile at her kind word " Thank you and I know it's been a while ! But we're back now and for good ! " Mrs.Gonzales smiles and runs her fingers through her hair , " Danny asked if you wanted to come over and catch up ? " I look over to mom and she nods . " yeah sure " I say smiling .
We walk across my green front lawn which is covered in boxes from the moving truck. " He's swimming go to the backyard I'll fix you kids some drinks " I nod and follow the instructions. To my surprise I don't see my little goofy 6 year old Bestfriend who had a missing front tooth and scruffy hair . I see a tall tan gorgeous handsome stranger with a hard six pack . I feel the embarrassment take over my body and my cheeks turn red. He looks up and has pretty much the same reaction to me as I did to him . " Autumn uh hey " he says shyly . " Yeah um hi " I say as I bring him into an awkward hug . The last time I hugged him my face rested on his shoulder this time it was in his chest .
