The Game (Benny watts TQG) [Thomas Brodie Sangster]

Part 26 : No Y/n.

I sat sipping my coffee, watching benny replay his game from the last tournament playing it almost like speed chess as he had all the moves written down on his paperwork. He sat in his usual chair with his black and white cushion, in his jeans and black shirt with very faint vertical stripes. 

"Benny?" I asked breaking the silence 

"Yeah hun?" He asks as I broke him from his game 

"What do you gonna do today?" I asked

"I'm doing it" he shrugs 

"Did you wanna maybe, Go out today? go to the shops or something?" I suggested 

"Do you wanna go out today?" He asked leaning his cheek on his hand too smart already as he had seen though my obvious ploy 

"Kinda" I blushed 

"Okay. Where do you wanna go?" He asks "department store? supermarket? Jewellery store?"

"Why don't we just wonder around the shopping places?"

"Alright, but wrap up warm its cold out" he says 

"Yay! thank you benny" I smiled giving him a kiss and hurrying into our bedroom to get my tights and shoes on. Once I was ready we stood by the door getting our jackets on Benny getting his long leather coat and hat and I got wrapped up with my coat and scarf 

"Shall we go a window shopping Mi lady?" he smirked offering his arm 

"Yes Indeed we shall" I giggled taking it as we hurried out and up the stairs locking the door behind us. 

We went around the shops browsing at this and that in some shops and the shop windows as we gradually went down the street, the rain clouds hung over the tall new York buildings occasionally little raindrops would fall onto the pavement, people rushing about here and there doing all sorts of things, cars coming and going down the busy road. The next shop along the street was a Jewellers a beautiful baby blue canopy over the pavement the window full of shining sparking gems and stones in gold and silver rings, necklaces and bracelets I stopped looking at the beautiful things all far to expensive but so nice to look at. 

"something pretty catch your eye hun?" Benny asked wrapping an arm around me

"its' all pretty. But, It's not like we could ever afford any of it" 

"we could... If we saved" 

"Why? What would be the point?" I laughed "Benny there are better things to save our money for then some shiny rocks" 

"Like?"

"Like a new washing machine? Or a Tumble dryer? Those would make me equally happy if not more so then some shiny expensive necklace" I laughed 

"what about if... I wanted to get you something shiny and expensive?"

"I wouldn't say no if you did benny, But I'd be a little annoyed when the washing machine does actually blow up and I have to put my shiny necklace away while I hand wash our laundry" 

"I know" He smiled wrapping his other arm around me and resting his head on my shoulder his hands taking mine even if I could feel the cold of his ring against my skin "Do you know what your ring size is actually?"

"No, Never really thought about it?" I shrug looking at my hand 

"You want to find out?" he asks

"Uhh sure I guess so. I should know it right?"

"Yeah, come on then" He smiled holding my hand and leading me inside the very impressive shop "Hello I would like to check my little ladies ring size."

"Yes sir" she lady on the counter nodded

"I think this is a place not meant for us benny" I whispered

"What do you mean?" He laughs wrapping an arm around me

"we are peasants in this shop" I said

"Awww, No we're not." He laughs kissing my head "don't worry about it" He says as the lady came back we checked it and found my ring size and we headed out again 

"I think she hated us"

"She didn't hate us, she just got mad we weren't buying things" He says kissing my head "Come on, Lets go to another store. You can pick this time" he says holding my hand I nodded as we went along past a few little shops until I spotted a little pet shop "No Y/n" He warns

"Please benny can't we go and look?" I asked "Pet the cute animals?"

"Well... alright" He sighed "But. What did I tell you when we first moved in?" He asked 

"No puppies, No kittens. Until we get settled" I said 

"Good girl" He says kissing my head "Alright" he sighed so I smiled tugging him inside, seeing the little pen of puppies running around and playing, "Benny! look at the puppy" I smiled picking up a little black puppy it happily licking my face 

"he is cute"

"Look at his sad puppy eyes"

"Puppies always look sad y/n. that's why its called puppy eyes." He says

"Can.. we keep him?"

"No y/n."

"why not?/" I whine

"Okay so you want a puppy, we don't even have a yard hun, and you'll have to walk him everyday, and get him... done. and train him and he'll bark and you'll have to clean up his poop. And who's going to take care of him when we go away for tournaments?" He explained taking the puppy and putting him in the pen 

"You're right" I nodded "what about a kitty?" I asked going to the little box of kittens "Look at the little kitten? its so cute" I giggled picking up the tiny little white kitten

"the kitten is cute, No y/n."

"No what?"

"No we are not getting a cat"

"But we don't need a yard for a cat. Or to worry to much about going away? or train it" I smiled

"No cats, You still have to clean its poop, still have to look after it everyday, and a cat is just going to constantly knock our chess pieces over" He reminds

"True" I said putting the little cat back into the box 

"Come on its getting late we should get home" He says kissing my head "We can think about it okay?"

"Okay" I nodded but as I went to leave I saw a little pen in the wall with sawdust, and a drinks bottle, a fluffy black and white bunny rabbit with long ears and I instantly fell in love "I'll be back... for her" I whispered to the shop keeper pointing to the bunny and he nodded so I hurried out hoping benny hadn't hear me,

"You okay?" He asked and I nodded "I know you wanted them hun. Its okay, maybe once we get more settled okay?"
"Okay" I nodded giving him a kiss and heading home.
