Toph's POV

Before Suki came along, Sokka would have been right by my side at this moment. It's not that I dislike Suki, she took away my other half. Sokka's been there for me forever. I guess it's fair since he met her first. I'm not jealous though, I don't think. I kept a steady pace up the mountain. I could hear conversations in front and behind me. It's like I'm always the one to be left out. It hurt me but I would never admit to it. Out of nowhere, I feel a foot kick the back of my leg, and I fold up and fell. I turned, stood up and moved my bangs to the side. My fall caused everyone to stop walking and lay their attention on me. My face started turning red. How embarrassing. Sokka burst out into laughter. I bet it was Suki's idea. "Alright, I am SICK of you trying to impress Suki." I spoke out. Sokka's cackle quit. "I've had ENOUGH OF THIS." More anger poured out of me then I thought would. I slammed my foot on the ground and it started cracking. "Toph. I.." Sokka tried saying. "I don't want to HEAR IT!" I yelled more aggressively. Suki jumped to Aang and Katara. Why'd she do that? I heard one big crack and realized what was happening. Me and Sokka were standing too close to the edge and the area where we were standing started to chip off. "Toph!" Sokka yelled. He slid below me. My feet were dangling, as the land moved lower. "Grab on to my leg!" I called out to him. His foot was still touching the land that was falling. I dug my fingers into the edge of the mountain. "Sokka, they can't hold us both I have to let go." What do you mean, let go?" He said with worry. "Just trust me, I'll earth bend us down to where a part of the mountain overhangs." I told him. My fingers started bleeding from holding too tight and I let go. "SOKKA!" A blood curdling scream came out of Suki. "GUYS ARE YOU OKAY?" Aang yelled. We slid down and I finally stopped us about thirty feet down from where we were. There was nothing but our heavy, scared breaths. "YES, WE ARE FINE!" I called up to them. I barely heard the echo of Katara's voice saying "WE'RE GOING TO FIND A WAY TO HELP YOU, HOLD TIGHT!" I felt them running the way we came from. We were still so high up. The very top of the mountain would've been too hard to breathe at. I had no idea how high it was, but I do know one thing. One wrong move, and we're dead.

Sokka's POV

I need to break the silence. "I thought we were going to die Toph." I said. "I wasn't sure if we were going to make it at all." BOOM! A big crack of thunder followed by a bolt of lighting crashed. We both tilted our heads up. And the rain slammed down in my eyes. "Great. Look what we got ourselves into." Toph muttered. It cooled the evening down even more. The sunset was almost gone, and it was a foggy grey color. "Wait, I have an idea." Toph's face brightened. She earth bended a rocky roof above us. The sound of rain bouncing off of it was loud. The ledge we were sitting on was only about five foot wide and four foot out in front of us. "If we stand up, this ledge will collapse." I said. "Gee, I never thought of that." She answered. There was another awkward silence. Back then, there was never an awkward silence. "Look, I was trying to have fun earlier when I knocked you down. I wasn't trying to impress Suki or anything. I miss the old days Toph, it seems like you want nothing to do with me now." I broke the quiet. "It seems like you want nothing to do with me, Sokka. It doesn't matter now never mind." She said fast. "No, I want to listen." I assured her. She turned her head facing the other direction. "What happened?" She said with just a little voice. "What do you mean Toph?" "I just miss you." She whispered. That was shocking. "I'm right here Toph, what are you saying?" I said confused. "We used to be best friends, Suki came along and it's like you forgot about me completely. I'm the person that walks behind everyone when the path gets too small, Suki hates me, and it seems like you do too. I miss our games and the fun we used to have." She took her sleeve and wiped her face. She was trembling. Was it the cold? Was it nervousness? Was it both? "Toph, I can't believe you would ever think that I would forget or ignore you. All this time, I thought you hated me." I let her know. "I just never want to bother you and Suki, you know?" "You don't bother us at all." I told her, we both were damp from the cold moisture. The miserable kind of wet where you don't rest your arms because every time they touch your sleeves, it feels even colder. She had her knees up and her arms around them. Our backs were supported by the side of the mountain.

"I don't even know what time it is. How long is this going to take?" Toph asked. "I have no clue." I responded. "We won't have to sleep out here, right?" Toph questioned. "To be honest, I'm not even sure." I truthfully said. Toph's lips were nearly blue and she was shivering. The only thing I had under my heavier shirt, was my sleeveless shirt. She looked colder than me. "Are you cold?" I asked as I took my warm clothes off. "Nah." She told me. I don't think she knows what she looks like. I could definitely tell she was. "Don't lie." I said with a laugh. I laid it around her and lead her arms through the holes of it. It was so huge on her, but it fit her nice. "Thanks Sokka." She said while smiling. A couple hours pass, and we can hardly keep our eyes open. The night continued to get cooler. We talk about our past adventures and memories.

Toph's POV

It felt just like old times. I was back with my buddy. I was getting really tired. "I think I'm going to try to sleep now." I told him. "I'm really tired too, don't fall off." He said while chuckling. I couldn't get to sleep because I was so cold. I can't imagine how chilled Sokka was after giving me his shirt. Maybe if I act like I'm asleep and then fall into him, we can use.. you know, body heat. Okay, you got this Toph. One..two..three. Ugh, I can't do it. My body was directed towards him, but I just didn't want to make things weird. And then I felt him put both his arms around my torso. Was he asleep or not? I didn't know what to do. Heat started coming off of my face. I was blushing big time. That's not the end. He pulls me up against him. He's still sitting, leaning against the mountainside and I'm sitting at his left leg. He leans the side of his body toward me now and still has his arms around me. My head is resting in his shoulder. It's defiantly warmer now. I have to know, is he awake? "Sokka?" I whisper. "Oh.. sorry I thought you were asleep. Did I wake you up?" He asked. I felt his heart rate go up. I didn't want to make him feel more embarrassed then he already was. "No it's fine, you..you make me feel safe." I said. "Good ahah." He replied back. I've always ignored the part of me that liked Sokka more than a friend. It was going crazy right now. "Sokka?" I asked unsure. "You need anything?" He answered back. I was still in his arms and my legs were on top of his. I'm really happy to have you back, and I don't want you to forget me." "Toph, I will never forget about you." I knew he was smiling. "When we get back, can we throw rocks at targets or something?" I asked. "Umm. DUH!" He answered back. "Suki's pretty by the way." I told him. It hurt, but I knew it was true. "Toph, you can't even see her but she is. Did you know you're just as beautiful?" He told me. I got so flustered and couldn't control my grin. "Thanks Sokka, it means a lot." I told him. "Suki's fun and all, but she never wants to do fun things with me, I feel like she thinks I'm Childish and stupid sometimes." I felt his grip tighten around me. "I don't know what I would've done if I lost you today." Sokka said. I liked being close to him, he was really warm even if he was wearing light clothes. "You had me scared out of my mind Sokka." I told him. I had my arms wrapped around the middle of his upper body. I tried drifting off to sleep, but there was something that kept me awake. We both were quiet for about ten minutes. "One more thing, are you awake?" I asked. "Yeah, I can't sleep myself." He answered me. The rain had eased up just a little bit. Even though I can't see, I felt his gaze staring down on me. I looked up in the same direction. You're eyes are like a glaze." He told me. "Now you're making me curious." I said back with a smile. "Even though it's dark, they're a light shining almost grey blue color." He continued. "I bet your eyes are pretty too." I complimented. "I never said your eyes were pretty!" He said with a laugh. I slapped him. "Ok, they are." He said. "This is your nose, right? I reached my hand up and touched what I thought was his nose. "It's actually my lips." He said muffled because my finger was still on them. "Oops, hahah sorry." I giggled. He laughed. "Well, your lips are a light pink color and they're pointy at the top. You have pretty lips." He complimented. I'd never seen him this pleasant. I think he can tell that I'm blushing really REALLY hard. My lips were practically burning because his stare was so fixed on them, I could tell. He moved his hand that was holding my back up to the back of my hair. "You're hair is thick and dark and gorgeous." He touches it. I don't think my face can get anymore redder. Why is he doing this to me? I'm starting to really have feelings for him, a lot.
