Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm went off. I tiredly dragged myself out of bed. I worked until closing last night, which is 2am, I walked into Mazie and Hunter's room to get them up. Yes, they shared a room since all we could afford was a 3 bedroom trailer home and just barely.

Let's just say our trailer park isn't the nicest place you've ever seen.

I mean it's slightly weird for a freshman boy and a 1st grader to share a room but we're close siblings, and half the time Mazie sleeps in my room.

Every since mom died 2 years ago things changed. Dad went into depression for a month after she first passed and lost his job and our house. Now he can barely keep a job, rarely home, and when he is he's drunk and sometimes brings home his drunk off their ass friends. I remember moms last words to me vividly. They often play through my head.

Flashback
I held onto her hand as tears streaked down my face. Mazie too young to understand and Hunter sad and angry. Dad couldn't come because he didn't want us to see him that weak.

"Kenzie honey, I love you and believe in you. You gotta be strong for your siblings as the oldest. Their gonna lean on you for support. I know things will change when I'm gone. Remember I may not be there in the flesh but I'll be there in the spirit. Your gonna grow up to be a beautiful young woman and do great things. I love you so much. Never forget that. "

"I love you Mom. So much I always will."

"Love you baby girl."

End Flashback

I shook those thoughts from my head and threw on a smile as I woke the two up. I got clothes for Mazie and made some breakfast for them. Hunter of course tried to turn away and ignore me, but eventually got up.

After I took a quick shower I threw on black shorts, a white t shirt and some black vans . I quickly applied makeup, brushed my hair and was ready to go.

I quickly braided Mazie's hair into two French braids.

"Ready to go guys"?

"Yea" they replied in unison.

We walked out and climbed into the black Jeep. It was moms she used to drive it and when I turned 16 I started to.

Ted waved to us as we got in the car. Ted has been our neighbor since we moved to the trailer park. When we first moved here dad was a really bad drunk, he used to pass out in front of the trailer. I mean he still drinks but at least he makes it inside.

Ted would help us carry him in. He's a mysterious guy. I know he was once married and it didn't work out, but that's it.

Whenever we need something he's always there though.

Just last week a drug dealer tried to stash their coke in our mailbox and Ted stopped him.

I waved back as I put the car in reverse.

Fifteen minutes later we pulled up to Lone Pine Elementary to drop off Mazie.

"Ok have a good day! I'll see you around 8:00."

"Bye Z!" Mazie called. She was really one of the only people who called me that. Besides mom.

I pulled off then drove down the road to my school. Bayside High. I parked the car grabbed my keys and backpack and was headed in with Hunter by my side.

"I fucking hate school." He mumbled.

"Language." I said playfully shoving him.

When we got inside he turned and headed off towards wherever.
