Chapter Eight

“Are you really serious about declining my proposition Ms. Florida?” seryosong tanong ng babaeng kaharap niya.

I know you can find someone better.”

Umiling ito. “I’ve been looking for that someone better unfortunately ikaw talaga iyon. We’ve been waiting for you ever since you graduated Zyrene.” “You got me surprised when you entered the function hall late, sa totoo lang ayoko sa mga late that’s why I had an eye on you. And you don’t like someone who will do good no offense meant Zyrene but it wasn’t an everyday na nakakakita ako ng isang estudyante na pula ang buhok, naka-spaghetti at jogging pants at sneakers.” Tumawa pa ito. “Akala ko nga dati ay naligaw ka lang but you were there, so confident and so smart kahit hindi ka pa magsalita. You have this aura around you telling everyone that you are not someone we should messed up.”

Hindi niya alam kung ano ang sasabihin niya ng mga oras na iyon, everything is just so fast and so unbelievable.

“And then someone from the crowd ask me a question, that question left me speechless for a while at ngumiti lang ako. You answered it for me, you simply answered it for me when you noticed that I didn’t know the answer. And the way you answer it para bang ginawa ang tanong na iyon para lamang sa iyo and that amazed me more. You changed my views towards you tapos bigla kang nawala bago ako makapagpasalamat sa iyo.” “I was there during your graduation, you amazed me more ng sabihin nila na magna cum laude ka pala and I wasn’t even surprise when someone from the crowd said na sayang daw at may namiss kang isang project kaya medyo bumaba ang grade mo sa isang subject mo or else you’ll be Summa cum Laude. Pakiramdam ko sa iyo ng mga oras na iyon isa kang ginto, we sent you an invitation letter but you reject them. Muli itong tumawa.

“But then suddenly even after few years nagbrowse ako sa internet, I typed your name and found your blog. And I may say you amazed me even more, nakakahiya mang aminin pero parang nagkaroon ka ng isang magazine sa loob ng isang internet site and the author is still you. And that tempt me call you and have this meeting, I want you to be CUP’s writer your potential is unmeasurable.”
