The sun rose over the arid Martian landscape. Long shadows were cast on the deserts of Mars. Sunlight glinted off the shining domes and towers of the city-settlements around the Martian equator. Up north, a cluster of settlements were waking up, preparing for the day ahead. Far south, a settlement was booting up, awaking from slumber.
Spacecraft propelled by Direct Fusion Drives were beginning to fly in and out of hulking docking bays, heading to destinations around the Inner Sol System. Humanity had achieved its spacefaring dreams and were now an multiplanetary species. Throughout the Sol System, Earth reigned supreme, despite the increasing prominence of their offshoot, Mars.
Further away, in the darker depths of the Sol System, in the grasp of a beautiful ringed planet, a pale white sphere orbited, hidden from the reach of humans for so long. It held a secret, one that might forever change history as it was known.
