The next morning Madison and Kris woke up when the alarm went off.
"Sorry baby but I have to go to practice." Kris says.
"I know I do too." Madison replies.
"Why?" Kris asks.
"Because Coach asked me to be there. He also asked Nadia and the other girls to come too." Madison replies.
"Okay." Kris says.
"Yeah we aren't going to the arena or the practice facility either. In fact we aren't leaving the hotel." Madison says.
"Okay. You are up to something aren't you?" Kris asks.
"You will see." Madison says kissing him.
She then gets up and gets dressed. Kris got dressed too. They then head out of their room and up to the meeting room. Little by little the rest of the team comes in and sits down. Madison, Nadia, Autumn, Taylor, Meredith and Anna were standing up front with the rest of the coaching staff.
"Okay I am sure you are wondering why we are all here." Sullivan says.
The guys all nod their heads.
"Well even though its the first game of the season and it wasn't that bad we have a few ideas that may help." Nadia says.
"Yes the first half of this off ice experience is going to be team building." Taylor says.
"Yes we are going to do a few fun activities to help." Autumn replies.
"Yes and then later tonight after the team dinner we are going to do one last thing before the night is over." Madison says.
"Yes it will be fun but most importantly it will be safe." Anna says.
"Yes we already have it booked and its a private group setting." Meredith says.
The guys all nod their heads. They all stand up. The girls get them all to stand in a circle holding a piece of the rope. The girls then instruct everyone to put on their blindfold and set the rope on the floor. The make everyone take walk a short distance away from the circle. Next, ask everyone to come back and try to form a square with the rope without removing their blindfolds. Set a time limit to make it more competitive. To make it even more difficult, instruct some team members to stay silent. The objective of this focuses on strong communication and leadership skills. By instructing some team members to be silent, this game also requires an element of trust across the team, allowing team members to guide each other in the right direction. It was pretty fun to watch but they were able to do it.
"Good job guys." Madison says.
"Yes that was amazing." Taylor says.
"Did it help?" Autumn asks.
"Yeah that was a fun way to gain trust in your teammates." Dumolin says.
"Yeah and to learn you can lean on one another for help when needed." McCann says.
"Specially since their are so many new guys on the team. It was nice." Zucker replies.
"Yes it was. You girls are pretty smart." DeSmith says.
The rest of the guys nod their heads in agreement.
"Well then you guys are really going to like the next assignment." Anna says.
"Yeah its going to be pretty cool." Meredith says.
"Oh yeah and competitive." Nadia says.
The girls get what they need and set it up. They then broke the guys up into two groups. Group A and Group B. They go and take their places. This messy, yet classic and engaging problem solving activity requires splitting the room into two large groups with the task of building an egg package that can sustain an eight foot drop. A variety of tools and other materials were provided to the teams. After the packages have been built, each team must also present a 30-second advert for their package, highlighting why it's unique and how it works. At the conclusion of the presentations, each group will have to drop their egg using their package to see if it really works. Aside from teaching the groups to work together and communicate, it also brings them together with the common goal of both winning the egg drop and successfully creating an egg package. Both teams won and both of their packages worked in different ways.
