Ymir opened her eyes, not to the bright light of the sun that she had been used to, but to a wooden roof. That's strange. Are we at Marley already? Ymir thought, not surprised that Reiner would take her there without letting her know. She groaned and rubbed her eyes, sitting up slowly.

As she did, she realised that she wasn't in a cell, as she'd been promised she would be kept in when they returned to Marley. She was in a normal looking bedroom, sitting on a bed that wasn't too comfortable, but still better than sleeping on the walls and in trees. It was dark, with barely any light to see. Perhaps that was why she didn't see him lurking in the corner of the room straight away.

A scream echoed through the bedroom when she saw him. Ymir had got up by now and was about to get dressed in the clothes she had found at the end of the bed when she'd noticed a strange looking man with a black, bushy moustache and beard, a hat like a cowboy and clothes to fit the part. He looked about 40 from the looks of him, but the real question was what he was doing and why he was in her room.

"What are you doing here?!" Ymir managed to shriek in a high pitched voice she didn't know she had. "I'm not a weak girl you know. I can and will defend myself if you try anything!" She stepped back from the man, who got up from the rocking chair he sat on.
"Don't worry, lass. I'm not goin' to hurt ya. This is my house after all. Don't want it gettin' messy." He spoke in a husky voice, one like the old men in the interior of Wall Sina had when they'd smoked too many cigarettes. She glared at him still, but relaxed a little bit.

The wooden door burst open suddenly, and a familiar face stood in the doorframe. Bow across her shoulder and a quiver of arrows attached to her belt, Sasha Braus looked completely different to when the girls had last seen each other. More confident and serious it seemed by the look on her face, as if she'd finally realised the dire situation the scouts and the walls were faced with and stopped messing around.

"Sasha. Your friend's awake, as you can see. Ready the horses. Our agreement is up." The man with the husky voice said, walking toward the door.
"Yes, father." Sasha responded plainly, running out of the door and down the stairs to carry out her orders. The man turned to face Ymir, her face still serious, hiding her true feelings of worry.
"Hurry and get dressed. I presume you want to know how you got here." Were his final words as he shut the door and left Ymir alone.

The man and Ymir sat at an oak table, boiling hot soup sitting in front of them. The silence was thick, until Ymir spoke and broke it.
"So, old man. You said you'd tell me about how I got here?" She didn't make eye contact with him, and instead eyed the soup, but didn't eat it. He sighed and scratched the back of his head.

"Yeah. Well, if we're gonna start somewhere, it might as well be the beginnin'."

"One day a month or so ago now, Sasha returned home from the walls. She don't usually visit, so I was worried somethin' was up. Turns out, someone in the Survey Corps were askin' for a girl named Ymir, but she'd gone far away, and they didn't know where you was. So, me being the responsible man I am, made a deal with Sasha that I would look for ya based off your description for a week or so, and if I found ya I'd bring ya back here and nurse ya until ya felt better. If I didn't, though, I'd give up and presume you were dead."

"I searched everywhere an' almost died once or twice. I spent sleepless nights lookin' for ya, but I couldn't find ya anywhere. Before I knew it, a week had gone by and I'd given up. But my Sasha had miraculously found ya at the other end of the forest. Guess I didn't look that way. But anyways, ya had a huge cut on ya head, as if you'd been knocked out or somethin' by force. Me and Sasha nursed ya back to health, and you've been here for the past month or so. That brings us to today, the first time you've woken up durin' ya time here in the woods."

I did say in my last book I was probably going to do a Hange x Moblit but I decided against it. Everyone loves a good, canon wlw ship and I've had this idea for ages so...here we are.

Hope you enjoyed chapter 1!
