New Beginnings (Mia Anderson: Book 2)

Part 5

It was the day for the first performance. Vocal Adrenaline. While his team was getting, Will and I went to go get coffee at the Lima Bean. We just got our drinks and sat down at a table.

(Mia) "I know she is your prized star and all but I can't believe Rachel."

(Will) "You're having problems with Rachel."

(Mia) "She kissed Sam."

(Will) "But aren't you two together."

(Mia) "We were. And Rachel said that she didn't know we were together."

(Will) "She didn't? It's not like you two have been discrete. She isn't really on my good side either."

(Mia) "What happened?"

(Will) "When I came home from work yesterday I saw Sam stealing my bills from my mailbox. When I asked him what he was doing he told me that Rachel told him to. She also asked me to throw the competition."

(Mia) "No... seriously? She asked Blaine and I to throw it as well."

(Will) "Also told me that she blames me for at lot of stuff."

(Mia) "That's terrible."

(Will) "No it's good. It has gotten me more excited to crush her today."

(Mia) "It is going to feel great."

We all sat in the auditorium. Everyone sat in their own glee club groups. I sat with Blaine and Warblers, Rachel and Kurt with New Directions and Will sat by himself. Sue was up on stage and Vocal Adrenaline were up on stage behind the curtain.

(Sue) "Please direct your blank stares to the curtain behind me. Soon it will open and there will be blood sport. Happy Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in your favor."

Soon the curtains open and Vocal Adrenaline's performance started. Will did not hold back. Vocal Adrenaline is amazing. They were intense and brilliant and I honestly didn't care. I just wanted to see the shock on Rachel's face and I was not disappointed. It was priceless. She was annoyed. Shocked. Absolute brilliance. I looked at Will and saw that he was looking at me. I gave him a thumbs up and a smile. He turned back to the performance and I looked at Rachel. She looked annoyed at me and all I gave her was a slight shrug. Once their first song was over they went onto a different and it was even better. Rachel and Kurt's faces were priceless. Everything was amazing. I loved everything that was going on. When the performance I clapped for them while everyone else slow clapped. No one was excited. Sue walked onto the stage with a mic while Vocal Adrenaline walked off into the audience seats.

(Sue) "Vocal Adrenaline, everybody. Absolutely breathtaking, huh? I am here to inform all three teams that I, Sue Sylvester, will be judging this year's McKinley High Show Choir Invitational."

(Will) "What? That's crazy."

(Sue) "I run this school now. My school, my rules. And speaking of rules, I would like to outline the rules for this year's invitational."

(Will) "Wait, Sue, you can't change the rules after one team has already performed."

(Sue) "Sure I can. Rule number one: this year's theme is "old school." Rule number two: there are no more rules. The Dalton Academy Warblers will perform tomorrow, and The New Directions will perform the following day."

(Mark) "Wait, this is a three-day competition?

(Darren) "Where will we sleep?"

(Sue) "I imagine you two will sleep inside one another."
