Amelia's POV

I got a letter from lily she invited me and Diana to her tea party which was being held 2 days from now.

We decided to go since it's Lily's tea party and because it's good to make connections with other noble ladies to gain a good reputation in high society and me being the future empress I need to make sure to keep a good reputation.

Amelia: Louise make sure to send a reply to lady York that me and lady Diana are going to be attending her tea party

Louise: yes princess

Time skip to the tea party

I made sure I looked good and wore a beautiful dress since what I'm gonna be wearing is gonna become a trend since I am the daughter of the grand duke and the future empress

Since she is a person the Francis family took in so we need to make sure that she doesn't bring shame to the family's name although she probably won't because can wear a plain dress and still look like a fairy.

There were about 14 ladies there one of them including lady Penelope.

We all introduced ourselves and then had a nice conversation.

me and Diana got along with most of the ladies everything was going smoothly until...

Penelope: ah princess Amelia I see you brought your companion here today, she must be so lucky for a commoner to be taken in by the grand dukes family is like winning a lottery I wonder how she did that she said while sneering

The real meaning of what she said was "for such a lowly person to be taken into a noble house with high status she must've pulled some strings"

Diana looked like she was about to cry so me being like an older sister I looked at Penelope coldly and said

Amelia:you're quite bold lady Penelope for you to assume that she did something to be taken in by our family, my family decided to take her in because I asked not because she did something are you by any chance questioning my judgment?

Penelope:not at all! she said flustered and embarrassed I-I'm gonna take my leave m-my mother must be worried g-goodbye everyone

After Penelope left the people were talking about her bold accusations but they soon got over it and decided to talk about something else like my debut that was happening next month.

Penelope's POV

When I got home I cried because of that embarrassing situation. I don't get it why's she to become empress and I'm not I'm more fit to be empress than her so why's she getting the position and I'm not.

If she wasn't the grand dukes daughter then I would've gotten the position.

And I only wanted to embarrass that companion of hers since she's just a commoner and if she did then that would've damages Amelia's position so why she's just a commoner why'd she defend her ughhh this doesn't make senses, I don't care is it's her or anyone's else I'll do everything to become empress.
