     Hello! 'Tis I, Webber, with a brand new novel. For once, I'm actually going to share it with y'all instead of just letting it stay in my Google Drive forever! Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy my work. Please feel free to leave constructive criticism about any of it. :)

     This "chapter" is just for me to tell you a bit about the book and the characters. Now that I got all the general stuff out of the way above though, you can skip the rest of this and move onto the first actual chapter if you'd like. I hope to see you on the other side!

The Angelic Council of Nightdreamer Training requests your presence at the Scholastic Building, this January 23, Year 4 560 078 901, at 4:15 PM Celestial Standard Time. Tardiness will result in the indefinite postponing of the appointment. Refusal to appear will be noted as a severance of all ties to angelic society.

The Angelic Council of Nightdreamer Training

     Eyebrows raised, I looked back up at a seemingly shocked-into-silence Rose. "You know," I mused, "it's funny how they're willing to use Gregorian months, but they still insist on counting the billions of years since the beginning of time."

     Rose shook off her stupor and gave me a sharp look. "You idiot."

     "What?" I said. "I mean, yeah, but what did I do?"

     "The Angelic Council of Nightdreamer Training?" she said, gripping my shoulders with what I could only call desperation. "When was the last time you heard from them? When they felled you? And the Scholastic Building! Even I haven't been called there since graduation, and my boss has got me running messenger errands to some obscure places." She shook me a little as a gleeful laugh burst from her lips. "I bet they've reviewed your case. They're going to formally apologise and then annul your felling, I'm sure of it. You'll get to be an angel, Ellie!"

     There is a world like ours that operates on three forces of life: creation, destruction, and magic. Angels have the power of creative magic, demons have the power of destructive magic, and mortals have the power of non-magical creation and destruction. Those are three humanoid life forms in this world: mortals (humans), demons, and angels. Nightdreamers are demons that are raised and trained as angels. As the only creature that can manipulate all three forces of life, they are powerful and their loyalty is coveted.

Many questions about the nature of angels, demons, and nightdreamers go unanswered. For reasons unknown, nightdreamers who are not accepted into angelic society at the end of their training—"fallens"—do not live long past the age of twenty. Our protagonist just might be the one to uncover these reasons—and their solutions—if only she can find it within herself to trust, to be loved, and to heal that which has only hurt her.
