Through the next couple of years Percy made sure Annabeth was accepted. He was her best friend, and she was his. They did everything together! People said they were practically glued at the hip. It was the summer between 6th grade and 7th when everything changed.

Annabeth went off to a summer camp but Percy stayed back. He planned on applying for the camp next year. The pair didn't see much of each other. The only time they talked was through their secret flashlight codes through their windows the night before school. They even took different school buses so Percy didn't see her till he got to school. At first he though a new super cute girl came. That was until he realized who it was.

The glasses were gone and so were the curly pigtails. Blonde princess curls with a headband rested on her head. She was wearing flared leggings with an oversized sweatshirt. Percy did a double take. Annabeth ran towards Percy, throwing her arms around him.

"Percy!!!" She screamed hugging him tightly. Usually they hug all the time but for some reason it felt a bit awkward. When she pulled away she blushed a bit but then the pink disappeared from her face.

"How was the beginning of baseball season?" She asked.

Percy could barely speak, he was just staring at her. She was gorgeous. She was always cute but this was another level.  He shook himself back to reality.

"Oh um it was good. We got to play the upstate New York teams. I got you a Yankees cap when we were up there." He took the blue hat out of his backpack.

"Thanks Perce. I have a surprise too! I did some trade networking and got us lockers next to each other!" She said excitedly. Percy felt stiff and kinda wanted to be as far away from her as possible. "Hello? Earth to Ocean  Boy? Hellloooo? Seaweed Brain?"

Percy finally was able to get his mind back in order. "Seaweed Brain? You know what I like that better then Ocean Boy." They laughed and walked over to home room.

The teacher wasn't there yet, so students sat on desks or in chairs talking.

"Dude have you seen the new hot blonde?" Tommy asked. Percy sat with his friends in the back while Annabeth was in the front.

He felt uncomfortable hearing the word 'hot', especially when he had a feeling they were talking about Annabeth.

"Lucky we don't have Annabeth in homeroom this year. She's so annoying. Perce, we get you guys are friends but you have to admit she's a pain." His friend Lincoln said. Percy didn't  know how to respond.

"She's not a pain, and second she is in our class, she's the 'hot blonde' you guys are talking about." Percy put quotations around hot blonde with his hands.

Both of the boy's mouth dropped wide open. They kept looking at her then back at Percy.

"Now I feel bad about being mean to her all these years." Tommy fist bumped with Lincoln.

Percy wanted to punch both of them. Just because Annabeth was all jaw dropping now that doesn't change anything. Or thats what Percy thought.

After school every single boy seemed to have been trying to talk to Annabeth.

Percy overheard everything with having the locker next to her. He was continuously rolling his eyes. Tommy came over and Annabeth just glared at him.

"Hey." He said leaning on the locker.

"Go away Tommy." Annabeth said while putting up magnets with photos with her and Percy.

"Are you doing anything after school today?" He asked.

"Yeah. Percy and I are going to the batting cages, now if you excuse me."
