i smiled softly at the little girl beside me. the para-pro, mrs.withers, was permitted to my classroom for the day allowing me to work one on one with the children.
"not quite." i asked sienna pointing to the "k" letter on the paper, "the c is silent."
"ok." she thought for for a moment before speaking again, "scissor."
"good! now try this one." i pointed to the word "our" below it.

i silently laughed in my head at the child's silliness, "so close! it's pronounced "hour", weird right?"
"our," she tasted the word then leaned on my arm, "why are words hard?"
