"Too many people are dying," Jared complains. "Why did Jackson have to go?" Both him and Elly are crying now. Maybe I shouldn't be telling them the story, maybe they are a little too young for it...
"I can stop right now," I remind them, "I can tell you the rest later..."
"No! Don't stop!" Jared exclaims. "I must know who lives! You and the other person, I need to know!"
"Don't stop Grandpa," Elly says, more calmly than her brother, "Keep going. It's just a little...sad." I nod. I didn't realize till after I was rescued how quickly everything happened. In just one day five of us died.
"Are you sure you want me to continue?" I ask Jared and Elly. They both nod, wiping away their tears. The story is continued.
