the gloomy atmosphere of krovla district roamed around like a venomous gas, passing through everyone and everything in its way, it even seemed to affect klaus who was normally the most cheerful one in the group

Elizabeth, levi and klaus had been set with the task of going into town to buy resources for the team, they were lacking the basic necessities of food and water as none of them dared to leave and miss a visit from a commander, finally giving them the news of a scout expedition being held

nevertheless, they were all going slightly crazy counting up the tiny crumbs of bread left

elizabeth looked around at her surroundings, krovla district hadn't changed much since she was a little girl, it was the same miserable and dull looking environment as always, occasionally you would walk into such filthy streets where not even the mice would dare to go scavenging around

she wondered if she would have the opportunity to walk by her childhood home

klaus stopped in his tracks, holding out his arms to halt levi and elizabeth, as his eyes set on a decent looking grocery store

"you guys don't need to come in with me, i think we will cause an alarm if the owner sees three scouts coming in"

levi nodded in response, agreeing that it was a good idea

although elizabeth knew levi would have much rather stayed outside waiting than entering the store, he wasn't much of a socialiser anyway, especially with the locals, who were all basically loud drunks with too much money on their hands

the pair were left standing there, along in the busy streets as repulsive old men walked by, the two stood awkwardly next to each other. memories of last night felt like a cruel secret between them, even though nothing inappropriate happened, after getting some sleep, Elizabeth's mind had recomposed itself and decided she had to try and keep the nature of their relationship strictly professional.

so even if his dark gloomy eyes lit a fire inside of her every time they glazed over into her direction.. well she would simply have to learn to ignore it

elizabeth had been so preoccupied with her own thoughts, she hadn't yet realised the two men in a strange uniform, pointing and chuckling at her companion

however, she did feel levi tense up next to her

"is everything alright" she asked peering back at him

his eyes remained glued on the two men who were very noticable whispering and falling into snickers at the sight of levi, they're laughs sounded cruel and mean, like two little boys teasing someone in middle school or something

"what the hell is their problem" elizabeth snapped back as her fingers clenched up into fists

the men didn't stop, even as elizabeth glared them down, they ignorantly continued to drink and whisper about levi behind their hands

elizabeth was confused, her mind ran with ideas as to why the men were making fun of levi, was it because he was short?, she didn't think so, the man on the left seemed barely bigger than her and levi.

she thought and thought, but nothing could come to mind. levi was new in the district, straight out from the under cities. what would they even know about him?

whatever it was, elizabeth was not about to wait around to find out

"im gonna go give those two thugs a piece of my mind" she said as she rolled up her sleeves and pushed levi out of the way as he tried to intervene

"elizabeth don't you dare get involved"

but once he spoke, it was too late, elizabeth had already stomped over to the place where the two men sat

"so, what's so funny fellas?" she asked angrily as her hands stood firmly on the sides of her hips, her face leaning into the two men in interrogation

"your friend there, his got an amazing reputation you know" said one of them with a cruel smirk on the side of his lips

it only took that comment for the two men to relapse into fits of laughter

elizabeths face burned up, her mouth tasted sour with disgust as she watched the two continue to snicker at her team mate

a hard slap landed on the left cheek of one of them, paralyzing the both out of their drunken laughs

The mans facial expression turned cold, furious from the awakening slap which had landed on him

"listen little girl"

a lump formed in elizabeths throat, how much she hated that word. "little girl"

"your Alexander's kid right? yeah we know who your scum father is.. and that older brother of yours, commander erwin smith? HA, what a joke"

elizabeth felt sick, her family had originated from this dusty old town, but she wouldn't have expected for anyone to recognise her, it had been a long time since she was a small child running around on the streets of this district

"YOU BASTAR- " elizabeths flying fist was caught by something strong, a warm hand wrapped firmly around her wrist

"step aside elizabeth, i think its my turn to have a chat with theese gentlemen"
