Katsuki let out a huff as he walked along his patrol route. He watched as cars drove by, and as people walked along peacefully, going about their everyday lives. Maybe some had some extraordinary events.
Maybe that guy was riding a bike because his car broke down.
Maybe that mother who was walking with a stroller hadn't gone on a walk in many, many months.
Maybe that old hermit-looking guy crawled out of his hole just to go grocery shopping.
Maybe that hurrying woman was told that there was a family emergency at home, and she was trying to get there quickly.
Katsuki ended up helping her get a cab, and paid for it. He almost scoffed at how willing the driver was to give the ninth rank hero a ride home rather than a panicked civilian.
Overall, it was a relatively boring day for the young hero. And as he looked down at his canine companion, he found that Ryuu was bored as well. Katsuki tugged on his leash a bit, trying to get him back on focus. Ryuu could be easily distracted when there was nothing interesting going on. This was combated with the training he underwent, but it still showed through sometimes.
"Come on, boy." Katsuki encouraged him. "We've only got a few more blocks left then we can head back." Ryuu picked his head up with an extremely bored look in his big, brown eyes. "I know."
It felt like forever, but Katsuki finally neared the last leg of his patrol. Just as he was about to turn to head back, he heard a scream. Finally. He thought to himself.
"Ryuu, return." Katsuki ordered before taking off. He knew Ryuu would return to the agency without issues. Katsuki turned around the corner. His scarlet irises watched as a woman fell to her knees, eyes wide open. Katsuki went to blast forward, but a force of wind knocked him back. He sat up quickly, growling upon seeing Izuku before him. "What the hell, Deku!?"
"Don't let him cut you." Izuku warned. He refused to turn his back on the villain before them.
Katsuki quickly rose to his feet. He moved closer to Izuku, standing behind him.
"Put the knife down." Izuku instructed the villain before them.
"And why would I want to do that?" The villain asked. The voice was definitely masculine with how deep and gravely it sounded. He turned, finally revealing himself to the pair. He had light blue hair with the eyes to match. He had on a black hoodie and ripped jeans. His skin was fair.
"Put the knife down and we won't make this difficult." Izuku continued to attempt at persuading him.
"How about... no." The villain replied. Four knives came soaring at them. Izuku easily flicked them away with a gust of wind. Katsuki's eyes never left the fifth knife, bloodied with the blood of the dead woman, which was still in the villain's hand.
"Kane Nakamura. A member of Death Row, right?" Izuku spoke again. The villain smirked cockily at them.
"Maybe." He replied. His blue eyes locked their gaze onto Katsuki's scarlet ones. "You're lucky, you know. To be able to hide for this long. But your luck will run out one day."
Katsuki felt a sinking feeling in his gut. He subtly poked Izuku's back, silently telling him to get a move on. He didn't like the way this villain was looking at him.
