Villainess Wants to Live Freely Ch. 99 – Experimental Translations

Don’t mind me. Just shamelessly plugging the Kickstarter for a JRPG called Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
I’ve been a little obsessed with it over the past couple weeks, and with one week left to the campaign, I thought I’d drop a small mention here. What they’ve shown is very promising, and the discord community has been very fun to interact with.

 

[Will]: “……so, then. Rinoa-sama, how did you do on your tests? Were you able to follow through on the challenge you issued the other day?”

Will-sama’s oppressive black smile completely killed whatever peaceful atmosphere we had going on in the room until now.

(Haa, is Sophia-sama the only person who could withstand an atmosphere like this~? I really didn’t care about the challenge, so there was no reason to bring it up……but since she declared herself my rival, maybe I’ll be able to score a few points with Rinoa-sama if I win here? Hmm)

While I was thinking that to myself, Rinoa-sama looked towards her feet while biting her lip.

[Rinoa]: “…….y”

[Will]: “Hm? What was that?”

[Rinoa]: “Why!? I didn’t know! Nobody ever told me Roselia-sama was that smart!”

Rinoa-sama started appealing to me with tears in her eyes and the hair on her tail standing on end.

(Just what I’d expect from a cat! I know she’s angry, but with those teary eyes and her tail like that……she’s just too cute…..what should I do?)

[El]: “Rinoa”

El called Rinoa-sama’s name from the seat next to her with a serious look on his face.

───*Badump*

(W-What’s…..with this. When he says Rinoa-sama’s name without any honorifics……my chest hurts…..)
(R:MAYBE there is something wrong..)

[Rinoa]: “You should have told me too Routh! You could’ve mentioned that Roselia-sama was number one in her grade!”

[El]: “Hah…..I mean, you put in such an unreasonable amount of time into your swordplay I just assumed you might be able to hold your own. ……I never thought you’d fail almost every single test.”

El released an exasperated sigh.

[El]: “Why did you even make a challenge like that in the first place?”

(Oof, almost all of……. No, El, I don’t think that’s the kind of information you should just say in front of everyone…….look, Rinoa-sama already seems like she’s at her limit. And the reason for the challenge is probably……)

There’s a large gap between how Rinoa-sama usually is and how she’s looking right now. Lips pursed, body trembling.

Plus her panther ears and tail are drooping down low to the floor. I want to just walk up to her and tell her that everything’s going to be all right.

(If I did do that, I’d probably be hated even more though.)

 

[Rinoa]: “S-Stupid Routhーーーー!!!!”

 

Screaming that, Rinoa-sama jumped out of the room.
