- 3rd POV -
"You're not doing enough!" Midoriya shouted.
His posture was slouched. The bags under his eyes became more and more noticeable by the passing days. Exhaustion covered him, but it never phased him.
"Don't raise your voice at me, boy!" Aizawa's eyes turned bright red to threaten him.
Both of their defensives were on a high, and neither was going to back down.
"I'm doing everything I can! There's only so much I can prove! I need major public opinion to win this, and not too many people are fond of her!"
Their argument could be heard from anywhere in the dorm room. To people overhearing, it made no sense. They had all seen Midoriya's sudden change of attitude and the "disappearance" of Y/N, but Aizawa never addressed it. Midoriya wouldn't talk about it.
You were only ever spoken about in hush tones now.
"She can't stay in there! How do we get them to let her go!" Desperation soaked his words. He knew he was powerless in this situation but wanted to take it into his own hands.
Aizawa's guard was let down, and he sighed, running his hands through his hair. He was just as bad as Midoriya was. Aizawa always looked exhausted, but it seemed to have gotten worse when you turned yourself in.
"I'm trying. I swear I am trying everything I can. Since the Chief sent those people after her, he has everyone convinced. He's also putting a lot of the crimes of the League onto her. It will be hard to convince the public." He sighed once again. "At the end of the day, they can prove that she killed 3 people and has witnessed the countless amount of them."
Midoriya's heart continued to sink into its hole. "I want her back." He whispered to himself.
Aizawa stepped towards Midoriya and placed a hand on his head. "We'll get her back. I'm not letting her end like this."
Weeks passed, and still, no progress.
Midoriya would spend hours trying to get visitation with you, but she wasn't allowed. He would stay in the lobby for hours for just a chance to speak to you. He was shut out every time.
Aizawa was speaking to as many people as he could. Trying to get more pro-heroes on his side. Getting them to understand where Y/N came from. They all said the same thing.
"She deserved it."
The more Aizawa and Midoriya heard those words, the more they started to lose hope.
Midoriya had started to train even harder. He tried more and more to distract himself from the thought that you may never come back to him. He would train until his brain become dizzy. Reminding himself over and over again that you were worth every sweat he dropped. Even if his muscle were burning, he didn't care.
"It's been a month, Aizawa. Why doesn't anyone believe us!" He shouted as he burst into Aizawa's office. Aizawa's hair was up, and his back was hunched over his computer.
"We're getting closer, Midoriya. We need to be patient." Aizawa stood up and rubbed Midoriya's low-hanging head.
Months continued to pass. 'Patience' was a broken word to Midoriya now. He was growing tired. Not just from the world keeping you away from him but from himself.
No matter how hard he trained. No matter how hard he pushed himself. You were all he thought about. You are all he wanted.
"Chief, you know that this is unfair. You can't place charges against her that had nothing to do with her!" Aizawa shouted at the dog.
The Chief lit a cigar in his mouth and blew the smoke in Aizawa's direction. "Eraserhead, you've sunk low. Is she worth this? She works for the League! I don't know what she brainwashed into you, but she deserves nothing. She's what's wrong with this world."
Aizawa slammed his fist on the Chief's desk. "She deserves a chance! I failed her! She's a kid who was never taught that she deserves more! How are you turning your back on someone who cries for help every time you look into their eyes."
The Chief took a long drag from his cigar.
"All her life, she was told she could never be more than a villain. She was abandoned by us, heroes, who said that we would protect her." Aizawa continued to ramble. Distress was all over him. "She knows what she did was wrong, and she regrets her actions every second. She may never be forgiven, but that's okay. Let her get a shot of redemption. That's all she wants." Aizawa swallowed a lump in his throat. "It's what she needs."
The Chief threw his head back, scratching his head. "You get one visit. Next week on Wednesday. You and you only." He shot his eyes back up. "I will think about what you said. But if I'm going, to be honest. I doubt she will ever change. A true change like that is impossible."
The week flew by. As the days inched, closer Aizawa couldn't help but feel nervous. It was the first time he would see Y/N in months. He didn't know what they were doing to you. He was worried about what state you would be in. But he would try his hardest to reverse whatever damage they did to you.
"You're seeing here today, aren't you?" Midoriya entered Aizawa's classroom and shut the door behind him. Aizawa sighed and stepped closer to him.
"Yes, I am. Is there something you wish to tell her?" Aizawa knew how fragile Midoriya was lately. Everyone in the class always walked on eggshells around him now.
Midoriya shook his head. "No, she probably wants nothing to do with me." His eyes were dark, and veins in his arm popped out as he clenched his fist.
"Are you sure?" Aizawa pressed for an answer but didn't want Midoriya's glass-like composure to shatter. Midoriya nodded his head. "I just want to know if she's okay."
Aizawa wasn't a stranger to this prison. It wasn't as tight as the prison One for All was being held in, but most pretty intense villains were kept here. It seemed so stupid to keep someone like Y/N here. She wasn't this dangerous.
"You can leave." Aizawa grumbled to the policemen escorting him. They gave each other side eyes glances. "Leave." He said, a bit more stern. They did as they were told.
Aizawa entered the room and was taken back.
He saw you sitting there. You appeared so much smaller than before. Your body looked frail. Your eyes dead. Old bruises were opened, and new ones were forming. He had never seen anyone look so helpless.
Your eyes shot up at the sound of his shoes clacking the ground. You stood up quickly, running into him.
"Aizawa!" You cried into him. You missed any familiar faces. When you had heard Aizawa was coming to visit, it was the first thing in such a long time that made you feel something.
Aizawa noticed how weak your hug was. He was afraid hugging you back would break you.
"Y/N." He mumbled delicately, resting his hand on your head.
