It has been weeks Weeks and weeks and nobody has seen Thanatos I was worried about him. Was he avoiding me? Was something going on that I was not aware of?
"Hypnos" I called out, rushing up the hills of Elysian "Yes princess?" He asked, stopping in his tracks "Is Thanatos alright? My father refuses to tell me anything and I never get a response when I knock on his door" I explained.
He shifted in place slightly, before he smiled at me A strained smiled telling me there was weight in my worries "He is fine princess, I assure you" he said, turning to leave me "Wait, but... is he... has he fallen ill then? Is he dealing with something? I am very worried" I said.
He sighed "Walk with me?" He asked, I did so, and we began to trail back to the castle "Do you mind if I be candid princess?" He asked, I shook my head "Please, feel free to say or ask me anything" I said.
"Do you honestly... purely and utterly love my brother?" He asked The question took me by surprise He already knew of my affection for Thanatos "Um... I- I do..." I mumbled embarrassed It was odd, talking to Hypnos about being in love with his brother.
"Good, so tell him" he said, stopping in our path "What?" I asked "Tell him" he urged "Hypnos I... I tried to tell him... I tried to show him I- I kissed him for goddess sake and he... he did not want anything to do with me" I said sadly.
"He does" he insisted "No. He does not. He pulled away, he did not say anything and then he ran... he has not even spoken to me since" I said, walking around him "Princess" he said, grabbing my wrist I turned around, and he immediately let go.
"Forgive me, I just... he likes you, I know he does. More than you can imagine. Please will you just go and see him? Admit how you feel" he begged "I- I cannot... I humiliated myself once already. I refuse to break my own heart again Hypnos" I said.
I did not want to feel that pain again I was still heartbroken I cried most nights over the chance I blew The friendship I had lost with him.
"Please Macaria" "No. I am sorry Hypnos, truly, but I do not want to hurt myself again and I do not know why you insist that I do so" I said sternly, continuing my way back to the castle "Because he is hurting" he said.
"Well I am hurting too. Forgive me Hypnos, I do not know what Thanatos is going through but I cannot... I cannot keep hurting myself chasing a man who simply does not love me back" I said sadly, leaving him there.
