"I heard what happened." Jacob grunted, pulling his large, sharp hunting knife out of its holster and cutting the rope that held my wrists behind my back. "Hopefully we can find Faith. The goddamn Deputy took her somewhere and we gotta find her."
My wrists felt immediate relief as he removed the rope from my red and bloodied wrists. "Thanks Jacob. I swear I'm gonna fucking kill him." I scowled, standing up dizzily.
"Can you walk?" Jacob questioned as he placed his hand on my waist to keep my from falling to the floor.
"I think so." I began to now walk towards the front door. "Just a little dizzy." I had to keep my hand on the wall to keep my balance; quickly, I opened the door and darted out the door with Jacob close behind. I needed to find my girl...
•Faith's POV•
"Where are you taking me?" I asked, fear evident in my voice. They placed me in their van, put a bag over my head [not allowing me to see where we were going], and tied my wrists with rope in front of me. "Where is Alice?"
"The world may never know." Nathan laughed evilly from the driver's seat.
I could feel the van going fast on the highway. "Why are you doing this?" I questioned, feeling sick with apprehension. "Why?"
"Why not?" Nathan replied smugly.
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I couldn't let them fall. I had to stay strong for Alice. "You're an evil man, Deputy. All of you are pure evil! We tried to help you; save you! But you won't listen to the Father and he's right! You guys can't see it... You're all blind... But I can still save you... The Father can still save you!" I exclaimed before pausing for a moment to ponder what I was going to say next. "Deputy... I know you've heard stories about me. The Collapse is upon us, and the Reaping has begun... But there is nothing to fear. The Path to Eden is clear to those who have faith."
"You're crazy." Grace chimed in from beside of me.
"And a manipulator." Mary May added from the passenger seat.
"A liar... and a fucking girlfriend stealer." Nathan growled from up front.
Jerome stayed quiet on the other side of me. I knew that the other resistance members that came to my house were in a truck behind us; they were kind of like bodyguards.
"You just don't understand." I softly spoke. "But hopefully someday you all will... It's never too late for the Father to save you... You were born pure. You just have to follow the Path and find that purity again... I will give you purpose. I will set you free."
"Really?" Pastor Jerome inquired gently.
"Yes." I smiled. "All you have to do is follow me."
"Pastor, what the hell?" Mary May scowled. "Are you serious?!" She scoffed.
"Sorry... Just got a little..." Jerome cleared his throat. "Um— carried away there for a second."
"I guess..." Grace stated suspiciously.
"Let's just get to where we're goin'." Mary May asserted as the van lurched forward after the Deputy floored it.
