OK. Before I talk about this awesome boss fight, please indulge me for a moment...
As I embrace the badassery of Vergil's theme music.
Now then. Onto the actual fight:
You actually fight Vergil twice: First with Dante and then with Bitcheo...erm...I mean Nero. Sorry, but Nero is honestly a bitch. Dude throws a tantrum even after Dante explains WHY he doesn't want him to fight Vergil!
Anyway, my hatred for Nero's whining aside, I do have to give the nod to the battle he has with Dante over the one he has with Nero. Both are badass, but the one with Dante just seems to come off as having more impact. I don't know if that's just nostalgia talking, but that's just how I feel.
However, while the fight is no cakewalk whatsoever(I died a couple of times against him due to his time manipulation attacks), I do have to say that Nero's fight with Vergil is harder than Dante's even though Nero is in Devil Trigger mode when you fight Vergil for round 2.
With attacks that can cut through your guard like a hot knife through butter and the fact that your guns are pretty much useless due to him autoblocking every shot you take, Vergil easily retains his status as one of gaming's best boss fights.
